Well, not really Chas, Decebalus rock carving is down on the Danube, at a place called the Iron Gates, near the city of Orşova on the border between Romania and Serbia.

The "ladies" are in Ploiesti, about an hour's drive (toward Bucharest) from our house.

The Eminescu statue is in Onesti, a city in Bacău County. That's a fair way off, in a North East direction.

As is known, eastern bloc countries developed a tendency to promote the political "achievements" by means of statues and other such public art exhibits. That tradition continues, which I like. Romanians are very proud of their achievements particularly their historic pioneers in medicine, the development of flight, and numerous other examples of their contribution to international achievements in science and technology, and so they should be. I came here with the impression that Brits had invented everything, but I soon had quite a few surprises!
