Hey guys
I'm on the hunt for seat covers too- I'd be up for a group buy if anyone is
interested?
Not a chance in hell that I'll be giving any of my heard earned to Scapiron,
sorry, Scorpion racing.
I'm off to see Anton at OEC4x4 at the end of the week to talk over some
ideas I have so I'll ask him when I see him.
Cheers
Jim

Hi All I went to the 4x4 show in Germany earlier this year. At the show a South African company had some canvas seat covers, they said they would mail them but i just havent got round to getting any, even though my seats are worn out.. If we get a group order together We could split the mail cost. Any intersted parties? I will e-mail them and see what they think. Cheers

In my opninion there is.
To me, they represent everything that is wrong with selling to enthusiasts.
Their products are invariably direct copies of other people's work (ie
scorpion "extreme" suspension and the disc handbrake), they conduct their
business in what I consider to be, very shoddy practices. Ie they won't
publish prices and it's quite hard to get prices out of them.
They don't really know what they are talking about in the way of technical
details- mainly because they steal ideas off everyone else which they then
pass off as their own invention- they have never had to do any of their own
work. They ONLY care about making as much money as possible- they don't care
about delivering a great service and product- if you have watched the lon
Their whole sales ploy bears no relation to good products, but relies on
heavy advertising and marketing- mainly because the producst don't sell
themselves! They spend so much money with the mags that they get promoted
shamelessly and I just find that totally unpalatable.
I'm sorry to rant, but every time I, or my friends have dealt with them then
I have come away with a bad taste to my mouth. I'm good friends with Simon
Rafferty (the main man at X-eng in Horsham) and he got totally stiffed by
scorpion in a truly underhand and unprofessional manner, and to be honest,
since then I've been on a personal crusade against them!

(I'm pugwash by the way no the forums- and yes I am a land rover convert! Am
using the LC for light off roading and towing!)
Anyway back to seat covers- is anyone else interested in seat covers?

Scapiron,
Hello James, is there some thing wrong with Scorpion?

Salut Benoit
James has said it all really but worth adding that they know nothing about Land
Cruiser's. I bought some ratchet straps from them as I live reasonably close to
them but I've heard horror stories from many, many people.

I would eventually be interested in Seat Covers however only if :
1/ Available for left hand drive vehicles
2/ From a reputable company like, eventually Melvil and Moon who never
bothered to reply to my mails
3/ And if the one receiving them could forward them then to me through an
address in Belgium.
Thanks
Cedric

I have only ever bought two items from Scorpion.
1) about 8 years ago I needed new lifted springs for a very non-standard
bobtaile Range Rover. Scorpion were the only company interested enough to
take the time to establish my requirements and then to work out what I
needed. I ended up with custom made springs from them at reasonable money
that gave exactly the right lift and kept the vehicle level. I must have
spent 2 - 3 hours on the phone with them before they ever got a sale. Pretty
good service I felt.
2) I bought wheel spacers for a Jeep Wranglerabout 5 years ago. They were
the best price of anywhere and were really good solid TUV marked pieces of
kit that took a lot of trials punishment driving very big tyres, when I used
to do that sort of thing and before I started to ache like hell after a days
trialling!
I've heard bad stories about them but have no personal bad issues with them.
Pete

I have a set from http://www.carseatcovers.co.uk/ that cover all 8 seats.
They are heavy-duty synthetic something or other - a bit like canvas I suppose - and specifically tailored to the LC seats. They are a reasonable fit, but obviously not precisely tailored, with a pocket behind the front seats, but otherwise no bells and whistles.
The heavy duty material covers the bits you sit on, and extends round the sides, giving way to lighter weight material round the backs and the bases where they have an elasticated hem to hold them in. There are also straps to hold them to the 2nd & 3rd row seats.
You can work the front seat controls with no problems through the thinner material that extends for a few inches round the bottom to the elastic.
The middle row has been done in two halves, so you can tilt the seats etc but not lower the central armrest. Likewise the 3rd row is in two halves, so raising those up to the sides is not a problem.
I bought them back in 2001, and they are still going strong despite children, dogs and all the other junk I've carted around, although the colour (dark olive green) has faded a bit. Last year in Italy at around 40 deg C they were not a problem as they didn't seem to retain enough heat to burn when you sat down.
I can't remember exactly what the set cost back then, but I think it was =A3140 or so. I'd be happy to use them again.

OK, now I have hear of them too! They steal the design de Equipe 4x4
suspension that do make the suspension I just put on my Range Rover!
And they give Equipe 4x4 some bad name because the copie does not work
like the origine!
So OK now I know that the Scorpion does bite us!
No body should buy bouty from pirates.

Guys.
Spector Off Road do them in the US. Don't know if they could get them for RHD vehicles, I.e with the seat height adjuster cutout on the correct seat but may be worth asking. www.sor.com
