Shipping Options - UK to SA or Namibia

Hi,
I have a customer looking to source an 80 and get it prepped over here
and then to get it shipped over to either SA or Namibia - the final
destination will be Namibia where they run a charity studying Elephants
in the Okavango Delta.
Do any of you have any recommendations for getting the truck shipped
out there?

The girl below would be worth a quote. They were excellent for us getting
the vehicle to the UK.

Hi Julian
Interlink are trying to push containers at the moment and have quite good
rates.
If you call Naomi on 08700 718191 she should be able to help.
Cheers

Hi Rainbow,
Funnily enough I know that, but since Botswana doesn't have any ports
you can ship to didn't think it was worth mentioning :)

hey Julian

forgive me for teaching you to "suck eggs" but there are three ways to get a vehicle down there

drive
Ro Ro with Grimaldi
Ship by Container

Ive found on other routes that Ro Ro is the cheapest as we all tend to disregrad the oncost of container shipping..moving the container around the docks=2C strapping down etc but of course from a security viewpoint containering is the safest..

the only prob with ro ro with Grimaldi is that they quote in euros (ouch) .

it would be interesting to look at the suggestions about driving down although i suspect it would be necessary to change the ownership for the trip...but its an easy enough drive

regards

jeff

ps on rereading this is wasnt really helpfull was it!

Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback so far.
Unfortunately driving down isn't really an option, the car needs to be
purchased, prepared and then down in Botswana by the beginning of
August.
I'll pass on all the suggestions.

The best is to take it in via Namibia, depending on how it's to be used
(import vs. used and exported again). There are also a bunch of regulations
regarding importing. It may well be worth their while to contact various
consuls in London to get the latest gen on taking the vehilcel in. If just
a use - re-export option, it should be pretty straightforward.
Cheers
