My 92 import 80 does tend to smoke a bit when pulling away. I had a chat
with the deisel guys at Swindon about possible causes and fixes. They were
very helpfull and suggested that before I stripped any injectors or sent the
pump to them for calibrating I should check the running with the filter
removed. This I did and was quite surprised to see or rather not see so much
smoke as before. Also the engine was more responsive and not so sluggish. I
am reluctant to drive around too much without a filter so fitted a new
filter. Back to the smoke and not so responsive. Any suggestions on a fix
for this. Could a less restrictive filter be the answer or should I send the
pump off for calibrating? Or even fit an intercooler?
