That's burnt rubber caused by low tyre pressure or low puncture I would think TP ?

I think so Frank. The tyre casing had almost totally gone, the wheel was just starting to ride on the rim. Not only that, just behind the wheel arch trim should be the drain outlet connector for the sink and shower. Didn't notice it'd gone at first until I came to pitch the van at the campsite. Looked underneath and there was a large hole in the floor of the van! I surmised that, as the tyre delaminated, it must've been thrashing round at high speed and ripped the drain fitting out of the floor. It also turned out that the van had 'ordinary' car tyres on and not the C rated items it should have. Only found this out when it was pointed out to me at the tyre shop I stopped at in Dumbarton to replace the shredded tyre and ended up buying 2.

Many moons ago i had a rs2000 escort - rear tyre popped at 70 mph and i though golly its windy today for about 10secs then thought omg - i better pull off at this junction! Result was new rim and tyre - luckily company car!
