steering box

hi guys
Just need some advice.
I have been able to send the steering box I bought back to Frogs Island.
They have agreed to pay all the shipping charges to and from Ireland.
So well done to them and a big plus to find a company who are honest in
their dealings.
I have also secured another steering box in the UK lucky me I think.
I would like to know will a steering box from a 1995 fit my 1992 no problem
at all.????
Also I am told it is in really good condition with no leaks.
So what are the chances of these steering boxes not being good.????
Ok I know mine is crap but are are all like that after a while or am I just
unlucky.?????
Should I get it reconditioned while im at it and then be sure its Ok.????
I ask this cause I will have to get my parts fitter guy to take mine out and
fit this one and he tells me he wants the cruiser for the day.
So Im thinking if I have to pay him to take mine out and then pay him to put
this one in and then if its bad ill have to pay him to take it out and then
put in it after its fixed.
So as usual its not straight forward or is it.????
Cheers

Hi Guys
Sorry about the double post but I just would like to be able to get back to
this guy with a yes cause it will fit or a no cause it wont.

John,
Wish I could help but I don't know about these modern LC's. How about
getting the part number for yours and the part number for a 1995?
My feeling is manufactures seem to mess with parts too often, 40 series 196?
to 1983 almost every part interchangeable, or a couple of variations
(engines included).

Hi Guys
Just been offered a steering box from a 92 model vx Nato spec model.
Are all the steering boxes the same even on the Nato spec cruisers.
I have asked if there was any leaks, is there any thing else I should ask.
Any draw backs to this idea of mine.
I do have new seals I bought about a year ago from Aus, so they could be fitted.
cheers

Hi John,
If the donor is the same age as yours and they are both power steering boxes then you should be OK.
If in doubt, if you can email me the VIN or any other identifying info from the donor vehicle (I already have your cars details on file) I can check the part numbers for you against the EPC.

John,
You might want to check whether it has speed sensitive power steering. IIRC
most European spec 80's will have this, a Nato spec version might not.
All the best,

Hi Toby
Ok thanks but what is the difference and can you explain why and how it
works.
Sorry to ask the questions but its a new subject for me.

Hey Benoit
We must see one day who has spent most on their Cruiser problems.
We have had 2 months of no problems this year and long may it continue but
Alas we have discussed if a problem comes in that is expensive if we will
repair/
leave the Cruiser in the drive way untill funds can be found or / I cant say
it, it brings tears to my eyes even thinking about this. Keep us informed.
