Top Gear - North Pole in Hilux (chat)

Yeah, we can! I don't even do the lottery - never been lucky with it
before - I think if I did and win a 'substantial amount' I would do two
things with it - do up current l'beast properly again and buy another one
just like "thunder" (but instead of white I'd maybe have a multicoloured
one - I have a mate who sprays cars for a living, I might just go for
another white one...and modify that one too - hey! what we should do is do
the Nat Lott through a syndicate on ELCO...
What ya reckon Julian?
The damage happened to the LRFT when someone put a trolley jack directly
onto the tank, it slipped, and punctured the tank. He thought the tank had
a protective metal plate - it didn't unfortunately. I'm thinking it might
cost a fair wack to take it out l'beast due for some work on it next week so
I might ask that nice man who works on l'beast for me to give me an idea of
costings - it might even be cheaper to have it replaced with a new one.
250,000 plus miles, 1hdt auto, safari snorkel, LRFT (when its fixed), new
suspension again (when I can afford it), spare wheel carrier (also
damaged...) winchless winch, etc etc, and a new roof rack (when I can afford
it...). Methinks I'll have to be earning upwards of 30,000 grand a year for
what I want to do....
Cheers
Renate

Well, we can all dream, when I win the lottery eh! The Hippo is going well,
but unfortunately not stopping too well, ABS problems. Apart from that all
is fine. Sorry to hear about your tank, how did that happen? Fill the tank
with water, that will remove the fumes, but don't forget to dry it
thoroughly afterwards.

Maybe I should (like everybody else it seems) go to my local supermarket and
buy a ?1 ticket every week...! [maybe I might win enough for a brand new
beast!!]
Do you use the same numbers every week or do you do it with different
numbers?

| Maybe I should (like everybody else it seems) go to my local supermarket and

Do the sums: the chances of winning are 6/49 * 5/48 * 4/47 * 3/46 * 2/45 * 1/44 =3D 1 in 13,983,816
(From which you may deduce that while I pay my taxes, I don't add to Mr Brown's coffers voluntarily.
On the subject of taxes my 18 year old daughter is now working to finance her gap year, and received her first pay slip in the post this am. The conversion from a typical teenage pinkish socialist "they" should pay attitude to somewhere to the right of Ghengis Khan was achieved almost instantaneously when she discovered the tax and NI deductions!)

Yeah I know! but I must say fantasising about a new beast has its
merits....
RE tax and things, Daughter has same problems "What! how much tax do I have
to pay?!" then she flings her payslip on the floor and storms out of the
room...who'se fault is that I wonder!
At least for the Hilux at the North Pole he's not worried much about tax and
NI...
Cheers

Ideal for Nord Afrique - mine is 170 litre tank - I'll miss it so have to
get it fixed before I next return to North Africa.
