I imagine many will have already seen this as its been in the news, but it might be relevant to some. From some time this autumn those of us who passed their test after 1997 will be able to tow a trailer up to 3500kg without an additional driving test.

One thing I would like to add to anyone renewing their driving licence just for their own piece of mind and to save hassle and frustration at a later date is to ask the DVLA to return their cancelled licence as at times bike riders with full entitlement and HGV drivers have had the new licence returned to them with bike and HGV parts missing and have fought tooth and nail to prove that DVLA have messed up with some having to retest which is time and money few can afford so for the sake of a letter and SAE asking for the return of your licence
Though I have not ridden or driven for over ten years I still ask for the return of the old one
