Toyota quallity???

Hi the guys
just some thoughts to share with you about my last bad experience with
Toyota:after over a month negotiations with them to change the clutch I
delivered the car 15.12.2007.the day after received a call and was informed
that the clutch they had was a wrong one and i have to wait until they get
the right one and lend me a car(HiAce) which was hell of a noisy....at the
time being I ask them to change the top packing, 'cause they would've
removed the turbo pipe just to change some nuts they've destroyed while
mounting my turbo some year ago and discovered from a friend of mine...
So at 05.01.2008 finally I was invited to get my new repaired beauty and
happily drove to Stockholm to discover that the clutch was even worse than
it was. After consultation from two friends of mine they decided that it was
not my driver abilities to be questioned but the quality of Toyota's job....
and what was more amazing -my friend discovered an oil leak and it came from
the top packing!!!!!!!!!!!So I call Mr.Toy and was ordered to drive the car
there immediately. Ok-nothing bad-this time I get little Yaris which
delivered back today and got my car 'repaired'.When I ask what about the
clutch the chief said that the mechanic didn't said anything at all. Then I
ask him to try himself and after 500 meters he said that they have to change
the clutch again but this time I shouldn't worry 'cause they know the right
part number and asked me very politely if I was pissed off??
I told him kindly that I am in a state of shock and couldn't believe that
almost anything they do is wrong and after almost whispering in his ear I
told him that I did not dear to ask them to adjust my valves when the top
was off and he didn't understood at once why but after I told him that I
want to have my engine as it is now-no mechanic intervention and he felt
the clue :)
So now I drive my car and waiting for new appointment and hopefully new
clutch that will work as NEW
OK - hope you get enough from me...so John : you are not alone out there...
cheers

Hey Lubo
Really sorry to hear you are in this position with Toyota.
I know what you are feeling right now I really do.
You and all of us expect that they know how to do things correctly first time and know what they are doing over all.
But its sadly the case that they dont and then pretend they do untill you prove them 100% wrong.
I learned a few lessons while dealing with my Toyota garage, one was that they will pass the blame and it seems they cant say sorry either.
Another seems to be you pay big money to get the job done and presume its being done by maybe one of their qualified mechanics, when in fact its being done by their 5 euro an hour trainee guys.
Best of luck and if your not 100% happy piss them off and bring it back again and again, its covered for 12mts.

Well.. I must say, I have a quite different "relationship" with my
Toyota garage.. I brought them my car a couple of years ago, I had had a
bit of an "offing" into some trees and the whole left side of the car
was banged up.. well. and the front.. and the rear ;) .. anyway..
I got a brand new Corolla to drive around in for the almost 3 months it
took to get my LC on the road again.. (and you know what.? they didn't
even charge me for it) .. They fixed it up real good.. then only thing
that I have had some problems with was the right rear-wheel breaks.. I
to 3 visits to the garage to get it fixed.. but every time they asked me
if I needed a car or if they could drive me to work, and pick me up when
the car was done..
since that time they have changed the clutch and fixed the U-joints on
the drive-shafts and slots of things.. and the mechanics in the garage
really know their LCs (they have a lot of service on LCs owned by the
military) And they are always willing to answer questions and sell me
parts for the reps i do myself..
.. so all in all I couldn't be happier with my Toyota Garage.,.
