Tuning boxes from Slovenia- help please

Hi, I bought a tuning box and it came today. It plugs in between the boost sensor and the wiring loom, and has dip switches an different settings (changed by changing the switched positions). Does anyone know if these are any good or should I put it to I one side and get a tune-it box?

Why don't you try it and find out? Then let us all know the results, cost and who makes it.
 
I spoke to the guys at Tune it in chorley, they said that they normally work on fuel rail pressure and adjustment. They also said that altering the boost alone is very crude, I didn't want extra turbo pressure wearing the turbo out. I'm gonna send the cheap one back and buy the proper tune it system.
 
There are a couple of cheap and easy systems, they basically fool the engine management into delivering more fuel/pressure. The problem with these stsyems is that they arent re-tuning the car as such, they are forcing it to to work in a particular way.

The type that involves a chip / ecu work by changing the parameters of the engine management system - one area that can be adjusted, for instance, is the fuel quality - where a system is set up for the poorest quality fuel i its market it can be readjusted for using the better quality fuel in the UK.

I think you have made the right decision in sending back your 'piggy-back' system.

Of course, now you are looking at extracting greater power, you need to start looking at a bigger dump pipe, headers, free flowing exhaust....

The one in the picture is one that adjusts the fuel pressure.
I am pretty sure, it is.
I have had both of them.
A Toyota one, that adjusts a few things, and that is connected into the module just behind the RHS battery, on the 120 series.
Then I took it off.
Then I fitted one almost similar to what you have shown
It connects between the fuel pressure sender, via a male and female plug / socket.
Then I took that off.

WHY ?

Well, even though the engine appeared to make more power and TQ, the auto box, simply shifted down a gear.
So to me, I wasn't getting any advantage.
If it was fitted to a manual, then maybe the impression, and feeling would have prompted me to keep one of them.

Just my thoughts of when I had them.
Now, I wouldn't bother an an auto.

I'm having a 3" turbo back exhaust fitted today, then with the tune-it box I'm hoping to just have that but more power. I know it'll ne'er be a racing car (or don't want it to be) but I would like just a little more go
 
Mine is a manual, and I think the one in the picture is on the boost sensor. And I think it'd basically trick the ecu by telling it there isn't enough boost.
 
Does a Colorado have an ECU controlled turbo? Seems much more likely it will be indicating a higher boost level is present to the ECU to fool the ECU into dumping more fuel in, assuming the ECU is in charge of fueling.

The exhaust cost me £600, they fitted it in the day. I love it! I'll get some pics and a proper review up soon
 
Plug in tune boxes can't really offer a proper re-tune to the ECU. Unless you are monitoring EGTs etc you don't really know what's going on and could end up causing major damage to your engine.
Long term, the best way is to have it remapped by a specialist on a rolling road.
