It seems to me that there's a gross under-use of available power and accessibility for general purpose utility machines.

For example, I have two lawn mowers (for different types of ground) and a generator, all using the same Honda engine, and one pair of hands. It would be great just to swap the engine around to the various applications, not difficult if designed right. Clip on, clip off, simples!

Electric hand tools, the same. A drill, grinder, polisher, saws all sorts of appliances with their own motor, battery packs and so forth. So unnecessary, rarely do you use them all at the same time.

I have seen a system a bit like that in my local agriculture suppiers. basically a power supply that you fit different attachments to, strimmer, pruner etc etc.
