Hi Guys
Im doing this to keep the treads seperate so sorry about the messages one after the other,
I am stuill having problems with vibration when in idle and in gear. With it being an auto I found it a little unsadisfactory when on the off road course trying to keep the revs so it would not vibrate while not wanting to move too quickly. It gives you the feeling of it wanting to cut out at times. So what is a pusher pump and how does it work and where can I get one. Some one some where suggested that the problem might be something to do with a part of the fuel pump as it gets older. Any ideas would be great.

John,
As far as I can recall it seemed that your vibration was down to
possible fuel starvation/low revs at tickover.
The tickover on your 80 should be around 800-850 rpm.
Once set to that if you are still having problems then it sounds like a
fuelling problem - ideally you would need to check/replace the fuel
filter and then if that doesn't cure it check out the pickup filter in
yur tank and also the outlet filter (can't remember the proper name) on
your fuel pump.
If these are all clear then I would investigate getting your fuel pump
serviced - yes you could go for a pusher pump, but this would only be
compensating for wear in the rest of the fuel system.
Ideally replace the fuel filter at the same time as you check the
filter on the fuel pickup in the tank (there is an inspection hatch
under the carpet under the 2nd row seats behind the passenger seat) -
this would give you the chance to blow through the fuel lines to the
filter end to clear any crap.
Also, one minor thought, check to see if there are any areas on the
fuel line where it is weeping fuel - this could be a crack letting in
air causing the fuelling problem.
I could go on, but it is too bloody late ;-)
PS - welcome back John, its been quiet without you.
PPS - always make sure your PC is patched up to the hilt and that you
have a decent virus checker and firewall installed if you are using the
net a lot.
