OK no idea where to post this so decided to put it here, please move if there is a better location. Seeing as I am not getting any response on the Volvo forum I thought I would post it here. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=147915
My V70R has been making an odd noise when the passenger side wheel is loaded up, I think it is the bearing but after having a look at the drive shaft the CV seems to be rubbing up against the gearbox as there is fresh exposed metal on the auto box. Old bearing is a bit gritty so will be replacing it anyway.
Damage to gearbox:
Damage to the shaft:
No clearance on the right:
One of the engine mounts is broken so will be replacing it, even it this caused this to happen the problem with the shaft rubbing is still there and I ave no idea how to put it right. I cannot see any issues with the bearing in the gearbox, nothing obvious has shifted however I do not know what the output bearing should look like in terms of location. I would rather not bodge it by grinding the gearbox casing down a bit. Any ideas?
