What is it with BFG supply?

Need a new A/T for my 120. Just one would do. No one (of the usual reasonably priced merchants) local can get them. Michelin have had them on back order for a month apparently. ATS have stock but 200 quid each. Sadly may have to get ripped off for it. Snow a threat now and I want decent knobbly bits on the side. Had the same problem 2 years ago, although I think they were made in Japan then, who'd had a bit of seaside trouble. US now, I think.

Can get AT2s no problem, but as I only need 1, and have 3 perfectly good ATs not keen on swapping. Have used ATs for 15 years and very happy with them.

I've just bought a set of 4 and had no problem. I ended up getting them from a local dealer (not a stockist) who price matched and had them in 3 days. 275/70-16's.

Edit: These are AT KO's which are a slightly different tread pattern and construction to the original AT's.

Yeah, it does seem to be a shortage of my particular size. MTs not a problem either.

Either use your spare (if it matches in) and stick a generic one on instead, or banish your AT to spare and get a pair of AT2's ? Just a thought if its an emergency

The plan was lose the just legal tyre. Put much more legal tyre on the back. Spare and a new one on the front. Want goods lugs on both sides. No one can tell me when Michelin expect stock back in the UK which is the pain. If I risk it for a few more weeks that'll guarantee 2' of snow here which is pretty, but a pain with sheep to feed.

Whats the usual price i looked on ebay earlier and thought £170 was a bit steep but with snow coming i don't think i would care much about an extra 20 quid if thats the difference ?

I must admit, to be fair, that I had BFG at's on a Navara d40 a few years back, it came with them. They were awesome in the snow. I pulled about 30 cars out of trouble when we had about 8" of snow in an hour on top of ice. IIRC I didn't even switch range or anything. Can't say I saw an LC that night but a d1 got stuck, and an RR Classic tried to be a clever b*gger too. Funniest was the Police Maverick......could have been ice skating
Just run whatever comes with a purchase now lol.

My favoured local place would do them for £175/ fitted. But they dont have any. That place would be £173 each, delivered, but got to get them fitted and balanced. So could save about 15 quid on ATS. I think for just 1 I'll probably take the hit and save myself on lost couriers. Occupational hazard where I live. Well worth knowing about that place for the future though, especially as I'm thinking of going back to road tyres for summer where I rack up a lot of motorway miles, and they sell complete with rims. Seem to be quite a premium on R17 for BFG. They were a lot cheaper on my 90!

10k mostly motorway miles on my Cooper STT and only now looking anything but new , perform well on or off road and i ended up trying to make then slip in lasts years snow without success . I'm wondering how they cope with snow this year now their not as sharp as the once were .

Damn it guys, I know where I would be heading for tyres if I lived in S.Wales. 265/75R16 STT's @ £100 a corner. Tiny garage "Tyres R Us" in Bridgend 01656 720044 somehow managed to bag the name of main Cooper importer into the UK. You won't find Coopers anywhere cheaper than here. And Shayne: a point, those STT's are phenomenal in the snow. Off road prowess is regularly praised but so many people don't realise they're damn good on road too especially in the wet. My 2.4td LJ78 out-performed the wife's Seat Toledo on a twisty wet road

almost 50,000 miles on my BFG All Terrain, they are maybe 40% worn, ie, 60% remaining.

They went on at 202,000 miles, now spedo is sitting at 251,000 miles.
Not a single puncture.

Fronts on mine have only done about 30K. Rears still look fine though.
