Winch motor - insulating tape question

Hi

I managed to get my old warn XD9000 winch working again.
I stripped down the motor and removed the 4 magnets from the inside of the motor casing.
the copper windings are wrapped in a brown insulating tape, which is a paper-like material.
it seems corrosion had breached this tape causing a short.

As a test i wrapped the wires with black insulating tape and put the motor back together and it works now.
but this tape isnt a long term solution, I would rather get hold of the correct tape for the job

anyone know what this tape is called and where to get it?

i found a photo on web of a motor and marked in red where the tape is

thanks Chas - that 3M tape looks like it will do the job!
better than the bogstandard insulating tape I used for my test!

cheers

3m tape arrived in post, looked almost identical to the original tape.
last night I took the motor off the winch and then stripped the motor down , wound the new tape over the original tape around the windings/electromagnet.
re-assemled and winch working perfectly...

almost a shame I bought the new goldfish TDS now... almost :icon-cool:

will hang onto the Warn as a spare now its working again :)
