Winter driving Iceland 2010

wish there was some easy way of getting there from the UK now :(

We do not have a ferry connection here in Norway, so we have been shipping the trucks in a container, then flying.
Not sure if that would be an option from the UK

That's really interesting- have you got 2 trucks in one container and what have the costs been? (they will be roughly equivalent to UK costs- most of the container costs is not the distance, but the taxes, loading, container hire, ship location etc etc)

We use Eimskip from Fredrikstad to Reykjavik. Two 44" modified trucks in one container....its a tight fit. However simetimes they use a a special container, not sure what its called but basically its just a floor with two fold up ends. Anyway it costs 15,000 Nkr (about 1500 pound) round trip per truck. This actually ends up cheaper than when we used the ferry, when you take all the costs into account.
