OK ,so time for another of my daft questions that pertains to my
unique military spec 80.
As you all know, they don't put any electric gismos whatsoever in the
80 for the military, so this means no electrics in the doors. I now
want to put some speakers in the front doors and have come across a
slight problem. (I am at last replacing the radio that was ripped out
one night as the Iraq war started, when all foreign cars were trashed
by the locals).
The leading edge of the door has a plastic plug in an approx 35mm
hole punched in it just above the bottom hinge. I assume that this
would otherwise be the grommeted entry for the more normal wiring
loom to the central locking, window switches etc.
I was pleased when I found that, and assumed that it would be easy to
wire the speakers into the door. BUT - there is no corresponding
plugged hole in the 'A' pillar that I could use to get the cable out
of the cabin and into the door. There is a gap between the wing and
pillar through which cables could be passed and go through a grommet
where the wing mounted antenna cable enters the cabin.
So where is the corresponding cabin entry on a more normal 80 of
early nineties vintage please? It is quite possible that I have
missed it, unless they just don't punch it out especially for the
military spec to help it with wading leaks. Or maybe the cable entry
is much higher in the door, I just don't know. TIA
Cheers
