Car been sat a week while I’ve been away . No response from the car when pressing the fob so opened the door with the key . Alarm goes off can’t deactivate it with the fob so pop the bonnet and disconnect the batteries . After a couple of minutes reconnect and all is well ??
Is this a precursor to an issue or was she annoyed I’ve been away

Sounds like the batteries need a charge.

Does the alarm deactivate when you start the ignition?

Brand new Toyota batteries last year …
The alarm continued to sound and the immobiliser was doing its job . Cranking over ( very quickly didn’t sound like the batteries were low) but wouldn’t start .

Still sounds like a possible low voltage on the batteries to me. Even though they are fairly new, that doesnt mean they havent been drained while the car is sitting there.

Alarms and immobilisers are very sensitive to battery voltage....

Key fob batteries need replacing as my lc5 had the same problem.
Can't open the door with alarm active..

Iirc, the fob is only needed if the car is locked with the fob. If you lock and unlock with the key, no problems. The immobiliser chip in the key itself just needs to be in the vicinity of the lock in steering rack to work. No battery needed in key itself.
