Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum, coming from the world of Defenders. I don't actually own a Land Cruiser (yet) but have always liked the various LC shapes and recently toying with the idea of getting a 60 series in addition to the LR.

Is there a general consensus on import versus UK private sales or specialist dealers on these? I remember a long time ago when I was into MX5s, import was the much preferred route given rust issues on 90% of UK MX5s (not sure why I am attracted to vehicles that are particularly prone to rust...). Is there a similar theme with LCs?

Thanks

There are very few 60's around .... this forum is a good place to start as most are enthusiast owned now

JDM is a good option if you can afford it and are happy with the associated hassles, but as Grimbo says, there are a few UK ones around and some enthusiasts, especially on here :)

There are a few around but importing from somewhere that doesn’t use salt on the roads is a good option for an older Cruiser. either from Japan, South Africa or Australia.

Bear in mind shipping is slow and expensive these days. Worth a search around the car selling websites in those countries nevertheless

Good luck with the search.

Firstly I'd do extensive research into them to establish its exactly what you want. Find an owner on here who you can visit who runs one and listen to their experiences of work done and what they are like to live with. Is your requirement an up and ready to run one in good condition?

As a 60 owner for 22 years and having had 33 of the things ( only 3 now) I can help with advice.
The noise, ride and lack of performance are an acquired taste, for which I no longer savour, but a good few do.

JDM Imports are a good idea but minty and finding a good low mileage salt free foreign climes one will come with Starship mileage as they are minimum 33 to 43 years old.

I'll help all I can if required.

60 owner in Devon should you like to see one.
The 60 is an old school cruiser as Andy said with moderate performance but with no electrical complexity, no turbo, no ECU, EGR, DPF etc that modern cars suffer.
They are great to work on.
RUST is the concern.
Cheers, ben

Hi there im a 60 owner and 22 years old, my recommendation is to buy the best one you can find and get work done due to the fact that you will probably be waiting too long for the right one. Depends what you want to do with ? polish it or use it. I had 80 series and yes they are more comfortable / capable but you will be amazed what a 60 can do off road
