lol @ poor mans supercharger! it is a good idea that i have already considered but at the moment i just want to sort out reliability, i shall of course be hanging onto the pump as it is, as i said, a good idea. anyway, i shall be having a look at the td5 intercooler later in the week to see how...

i use this stuff @ work all the time. if u have a look @ ultraleds website they do a ip65 rated set which run off 12v directly. if u have any questions about it i have run about 300m of the stuff over the last couple of months... i could even show u how to do colours if that pleases :D...

soooo... after a long day here is the result. it would seem that the gasket has gone between the waterways and exhaustways in the head. this is why she is using sooo much water and smells like gas in the expansion bottle and rad. So head is coming off and going for pressure testing and skimming...

as above, has anyone fitted a LR td5 front mount intercooler to their LC? I am in the process of removing my head for pressure testing and a new gasket set and general clean up, while i am there i am removing the aircon condensor and pump. Now that i have all this lovely under bonnet real estate...

yip, got the same smell, like a weird gas smell... going to the workshop tomorrow to do a sniff test and check all the hoses, clips and ultimately rad. really hoping it aint the gasket or head but we shall see. thanks for all the replies chaps, i shall keep you posted on the results. Nice! Mark.

Cheers Chris for coming back so quickly. As far as exhaust smoke goes, it is always clear unless i don`t warm the glowers and turn it once, stop and then turn to start, almost like a greyish blue smoke, like unburnt fuel or summat. There doesn't seem to be any major water leaks that i can see...

Evening. Wonder if anyone can give me a bit of hope on this one. My manual 1kz-te has suddenly started having rather erratic temperature rises. used to run just under halfway mark no problems, now she is using water like crazy and the water in the expansion bottle when she is cold is black in...

they called him mr potatohead ;) actually i have heard that before and it is an awesome idea, if only to see the ballasts face when she finds me rubbing potatoes on my windscreen...

on the plus side at elast the 'little sods' won`t get a misted tongue :P pity about the sliders, finally got some spare $$$ also looking a decent winchbumper that aint too dear... that possible group buy has some nice stuff too...
