Crazy!

Makes you go from O to o

Change to 1080 and make full screen

Wow i'd love to do that but unfortunately i think its fake , not one swing is shown full length start to finish its all just spliced clips .

Don't think it's fake - showed them jumping and then swinging :icon-question:

I did one in SA, The Big Swing in Graskop - was a bunch of fun. Would do it again :) (and bigger)

So Shayne, where do they go after jumping? there's no rewind in real life.

I figure its a bungee jump filmed then the background rocks are added later with computer wizardry to make it appear more dangerous .

I wanted to bungee jump for years but when i finally got to do it i found it disappointing .

To a certain extent I agree Shayne, it would probably be possible to use CGI to deceive. What I thought was slightly suspicious was using a compound bow to fire a rope across the gorge, an arrow would never have enough mass to carry a rope across, and then for them to show (in another 'Behind the scenes' YouTube clip) the actual faking of the arrow arriving at its target, BTW another of my hobbies is archery so I have an understanding of what can be done with a bow. Compound bows can be powerful and an arrow could carry a light cord for a short distance but the drag would be too great for the distance they were doing. :eusa-naughty:

The bow i dismissed as drama instantly , besides he fires it ACROSS the gorge anyway so if you swung on that you'd hit the rock face first at 110 mph (terminal velocity of a falling person) . The only way you could swing through the gorge pictured would be to build a bridge across it to attach the rope to so you could swing parallel to the rocks .

You need to watch the 'how it was made' clip which you can open from youtube. Nothing fake about it. The group that made it have made loads of other 'crazy' videos including another similar rope swing

The arrow hitting it's target was most definitely fake, panning the camera on a stationary object to give the impression of speed. I seem to remember the same tactic used in other parts of the film. :eusa-naughty:

That is pretty awesome.

The making of is even better than the video.

I’ve watched it again and while I don’t think it is ‘faked’ it is much ‘dramatized’ you only have to see the type of persons who are making this film, they are all “Ooh look at me I’m crazy”
fantasy-mnster-25.gif
types just like Rik from The Young Ones.

That said, it is without a doubt dangerous.
If you look 1.08 minutes in you can see that the rope is attached on the same side as the jumpers which makes a joke of the firing of an arrow across a gap that they don't need to cross when they are able to reach the point where the rope is attached from the side that they are jumping from, as I say completely dramatized.

Yep the firing of the arrow is completely fake and over dramatised. The rig they have is actually massive over kill (but why wouldn't you with what they are doing!)

I can spot a fake and this isn't one. I have actually done a rope swing, so I know. When I was younger, me and a bunch of mates got some rope and a tyre which we tied to an oak tree. OK there wasn't a canyon, but it was pretty rad I can tell you.

I skinned one of my knees, actually. We didn't use a safety rope like they did. We lived on the real edge back then.

I don't like rope swings i ended up in hospital for three days and pins in my arm and the boy that tied the knot was a boy scout:lol:

isn't the point of making the video to dramatise it :icon-wink: the first person who thought lets see if that works is bonkers, the rest know it's probably going to be ok if it did

I would have thought that the making of A video was to record an event but the recording of this event was to dramatize it.
