Been wanting/needing a cycle carrier to use with the 80 but too tight to buy one:icon-biggrin:, I have one that straps to the back of a car which isn't much use and cant use it with the carbon frame.
We had an ex demo one from a mini thrown in the scrap bin, it bolts up to the back of a mini so useless for anything else. Also in the scrap was a tow bar attachment for another type of cycle carrier

Manager had the lights for his car trailer but not a problem as I've got some led ones

Cut the mounts off and cut some bits so it'll mount using the tow bar attacment

Welded it up, now it won't win any awards for beauty but so far cost nothing apart from a couple of hours of my time.

Just need to fit the lights and wire it up, I don't have any tow electrics so I'll fit a plug in the boot that's just for the carrier.

It just drops onto the attachment and a couple of m12 bolts hold it in place. takes 2 bikes and has appeared at the right time as got a mountain bike trip planned in a couple of weeks, 4 of us can now go in the 80, 2 bikes on the back and 2 stripped down in the boot.
Carrier can be unlocked and slide away to open the boot too (extended in pic above)

Nice Gary, but what's it for? Bikes? What are they? They sound awful. Especially as it sounds like you could trip on one. Just be careful, OK?

My other off roader chris lol,
Get to really wind up the bobble hats, turn up in a modded 4x4 and go biking

Phew for a minute there I thought that you were going walking as well Gary. There are limits.

Do end up walking sometimes but try avoid it!!
Either going to the lake district or the peaks. I want to go to the lakes.

Well found a bit of ally chequer sheet and fitted some lights and a reg plate, bit to wire up in the boot then best test it.

Now fully functional and fits nicely. Can just about see the tyres in the side mirrors so no worrying about width, the 80 is wider.

few hours of my time and materials from work or what I had in the garage, makes it the perfect price.
Out laning this weekend then swap wheels over, take everything out of the boot ready for some biking in a couple of weeks :icon-biggrin: that's 4 bikes/people in the 80 now (got to think of the environment after all)

Well carrier got a good test, had 2 bikes on it, lots of bumpy roads and up to 70 mph, didn't move and didn't lose a couple of grands worth of bikes!!
7 of us went and only needed 2 cars so result. Got 62 miles done with only one puncture between us and a couple of minor offs! Bike performed spot on too. Had more fun then laning the other week!

Good work
Always nice to combine landcruisers and mountain bikes in a trip

Yeah it's a good combination, it's nice to just un strap the bike and be ready to ride (well 2 of us  ) I'd of taken some pics but far too wet to take the camera! 80 smells a bit of damp sweaty blokes now!! Job for the valeters at work.
