Guys, old news this, but I was asked if I could put the pictures back onto the thread on Lil Blue. Too much work really to try and sequence them. Easier to plop them in a dedicated bumper thread. I don't own the vehicle anymore and I don't have any plans either and I am certainly not going to be making anymore.

But this is basically what I did.

I started with a pressing about 2m long. Just measures top of the cross member to where I wanted it to finish.

The rest should be obvious from the pictures. Mostly it was a case of cutting and folding then welding. Like oregano (is that Japanese paper folding?) in steel

I bolted the bumper into the end of the chassis rails.
Lights were NAS Landie things.

Looked good when powder coated

And there you have it. Several weeks of work.It wasn't straightforward. I have seen some others since I made this and they look good, but there really is a lot of work if you are just a DIYer. Especially if you have a quad bike sitting in the middle of the garage doubling as a welding bench.

Thanks for the pictures, it looks great. Slightly put off by the several weeks of work but I'm tempted to break th MIG out now.

Thanks Chris - certainly sheds more light on the subject :)

Is the main body of the bumper in 2mm steel ?

Ermm, can't recall, but I do remember I wish I'd made it thicker, so make it 3mm at the very least. Having said that it took a right proper tw@tting on 2 occasions.

Dam fine bumper that is. Still question why I ever sold Lil Blue..... sniff

Ahh but you did Tony, you did. :eusa-naughty:

It's coming up for sale again shortly Tony, 1 careful owner and all that  Luverly rebuilt engine and exceptional body patina for that genuine "rustic" look :icon-biggrin:
