A bit chilly today, -3C and some foggy stuff which would have been very nice for some photos if I hadn't left the camera at home :icon-rolleyes:

So it's iPhone only, I'm afraid...

We'll be off to Azuga, it's about 40 minutes slow drive from here and has a good selection of slopes for our 6 year old.

There are closer slopes, but much less child-friendly. (pretty much open mountain).

We're trying to get her to sleep, she's so excited!

I don't know why some pics are visible and others not. I have unbelievable problems with uploading photos on this forum...:?

Map looks like there wood be some good tree runs on that resort. The small ones are the best. My favorite place i have riden is schlick2000 near innsbruck. Turned up one day to 1.5 m powder day with 3 natural half pipe type runs down from the top. Trees to grind and stumps to hit my best day ever on the snow.

Sounds ace Stu

Much less exciting here in comparison, but it's snow and slopes and smiles, it's enough!

Have a great ski. Haven't been skiing in Scotland yet is winter, been too mild. But snow forecast on the hills this week.

Thanks Andy, it will be busy, its a National holiday w/e so plenty of first dayer's to watch out for!

After yesterday's frost, we awoke to this...

IMG_3600.JPG

It was only 10cm or so but it's a start! No proper skiing to be had, but the real reason for going was to pick up with my daughter's lessons from last winter.

IMG_3603.JPG

She was happy to be back on skis

IMG_3605.JPG

Only the baby slope was open,
IMG_3608.JPG

so there were a lot of disappointed adults standing around...

A pep-talk at 1/2 time

There was a Toyota Tundra on US plates

A big blingy thingy, but at least it's Toyota

I'm just back from Verbier. Looks like you have a lot more snow than us! I'm not too worried - it's still very early. But the daily looking at weather forecasts has started! ;-)

I am green with envy clive some snow is better the no snow. Why do you not teach your daughter your self she would love it nice bonding time.
Looks like a perfect day to sit and drink rum and hot chocolate.

I agree really Stu, but I was self taught (and it shows!), I taught my wife (doesn't show so much) so we thought her early start might be better from a tutor. He's got bags of patience with her and she likes him a lot. She's learning very fast.

If I was 20 years younger, when I was fitter and had more patience, I would have relished it. I got backache just being there for 2 hours!

We will ski together later this season, she's good enough now on her own.

Like golf and tennis, the experts say the bad habits are picked up from the beginning and are almost impossible to cure. Maybe they are the ones selling lessons.

Brrr, reading all that & looking at the pics has made me cold, off to light the log burner. lol

Yep, it's cold JM, well -3C all day and the same forecast for tonight, but it's cold and dry which is easy to tolerate.

Sorry to rub in the "dry" word, given your current problems with the log burner...

Sorry JM, that's a not funny "ha ha", I deserved that.

Anyway, a dad's gotta do what a dad's gotta do, and we set about building a snowman.

Fresh dry powder is not the best construction media for a snowman, bits fall off as quickly as you build...

Thus, the result was a very short and fat looking specimen with a mighty small head and features that would look better in a market garden. He's also got quite a disturbing look of "making sarcastic remarks over his right shoulder" about him, not a pleasant character at all really.

Ana didn't seem to mind though...
