Hi guys,

List price for a 110 xs station wagon defender is £34k. However that also looks to be the price expected for a 4yr old one, going by for sale prices on autotrader etc. Wtf is going on here. I realise production ending and all that but I am still missing something here.

Stop looking at Defenders mate and think with your head. Toyota all the way

If Ford do release the new Bronco and if a rhd version were to become available i would be tempted

Admittedly I've never owned a defender (had a Disco 300TDi). I can understand the appeal to the offroading fraternity but I just don't understand pricing of the things either. The number of new defenders running round town seems to have increased markedly in the last 18 months. Everything from base models to fully blinged up versions and not a smear of mud in sight.

Oooohhhh suit you sir…suit you. [emoji6]

You weren't tempted to make the Black Beast from Barry look like that during its nose job were you?

Not quite like that Rich but i have spent some time looking at American Toyota's and wondering what sort of facelift could be worked in to a new steel bumper . She's all straight and that will have to do for now with the weather being what it is .

With regards to the Defender i think there is a large and mostly ignored market for simple/basic new 4x4's , seem's to me a Defender is about the only choice if you don't want a pickup truck and self leveling , gadget packed drive by sensors doesn't float your boat .

So that's another call for Toyota to sell the 70 series over here Shayne.. forget the non Euro compliant V8 if they have to, surely the 3 litre could go in handy enough and be power enough for most.

As for the defender, yeas I see the appeal visually. A subtely modded defender looks fantastic tbh, but after 4 seconds driving it I'd be back in my comfy Toyota

Its actually pretty good value when compared to the Evoque / Sport.

Or you could spend maybe £8000 less and get the new Hilux or L200.

Or £14000 less and get a current HiLux.

Wife has Land Rovers, albeit girlie ones, very happy with them, its just me she's a bit disappointed with :)

Oh absolutely. Cruisers all the way. The fact that defender owners joke about all the time they spend under the truck is all the motivation one needs to stay away!

The defender pricing came up in conversation a few days back and i was wondering what was going on.

But... but... ford raptor is a thing. And quite a nice thing at that. Not in RHD though. Would not mind one of those parked next to my LC.

Yes Defender pricing defies gravity.....got mine at 2 years old (from a dealer), drove it for 4 years including some hard journeys to Arctic and Sahara, and stripped almost all of the mods I put on it before selling for 4.5k more than I bought it for. Had a serious offer for a further 7.5k fully loaded but the transfer box fell apart days before I was to sell it......chocolate mechanicals. I loved my Defender off-road (short periods) but as an overlander it was just too hair-shirt. Looked great in photos but left a lot to be desired in virtually every other respect

I had in mind to say to Roy that the organisers only let him in so they had something to recover all the broken LRs
