Such is the freindliness of Romania when his satnav took us to a hotel rather than a campsite i was obliged to take a full tour of the place and talk to the owners daughter - who was in America but had a better grasp of English than he in order to make my apologies an decline hs invitation to move all the garden furniture so we could park both trucks behind secure gates , so he could feed us , let us sleep in the best rooms in the place (which were huge , it must have had 50 bedrooms) and make us breakfast in the morning , probably for less than i pay for a pouch of tobacco here in the UK .

Fondest memories are often found outside the plan so hey all's well that ends well .

After a day of rest, and whilst awaiting Josh’s arrival, I thought we should take a reccy on the ridge because I haven’t been up there for a year.

It was sunny this morning and lately we’ve had thunderstorms in the afternoon, today was no exception, massive lightening and hailstorm while we were up there, quite exciting really!

That stop is at 1,500 m and after a dip, it rises to 1,700 m. The range opposite (Bucegi) is circa 2,300 m.

Maybe he wasn’t too keen on the extra attention at border crossings. Questions like ‘And where do you keep the AK47 sir’ being tricky to answer without inviting closer unwanted inspections.

Well, Josh and Georgie (hope I’ve spelled that somewhere close) arrived safely this evening, after a 10 hr drive from the Hungarian border.

We’ll have an easy local day out tomorrow, no mammoth drives, give them a chance to recuperate...

Funny you should say that Mike the Cruiser is booked in with Dan Dan the body man next Monday as I found another ditch to stuff up the Cruiser just cosmetic damage really but I'm keeping it the same colour

Ok, the ridge run (again) for me, but first time for Josh & Georgia, great day out...

Some photos, probably duplicating Josh’s post, but better twice than never...

After this bend, which was quite scary ‘cos the track was only about a foot wider than the 80, we descended to about 1,400 m and the start of the forest stretch...

Then into the forest.

It never looks steep in a vid, but this track was slippery, wet clay, rutted and washed out.

Someone had placed tree logs in the ruts ‘cos they were a bit deep...

I spent half my time diagonal to the track, rear wheel in a rut, front on the track. All good for a bit of fun...
