If you don't have a Crit Air sticker (for Euro5 or 6) and you went to the Eiffel Tower you got away with it. Disney is well outside the zone, and you'd have gone a funny route to get in it. I don't think French cameras can reliably see if you have a sticker. Think you're more likely to get...

    EV's -Tesla

British Volt seemed to be a big (over) spending start up who were good at throwing their VC money around. Possibly only so much good will your nationality buys you when looking for government funding. Whereas Tata would look much less like going bust a la Delorean.

    EV's -Tesla

Well councils aren't banning them at all so we can make up all sorts of reasons. The news story was based on a report from structural engineers worried about the weight and then speculation about what actions might be taken.

But that's because they are too heavy. Maybe not the greatest argument against them on a Land Cruiser forum.

    Landcruiser 200 series

To add to the above. If you take the battery out of the fob, you can open and lock the door with the mechanical key. And you can start the car by holding the batteryless fob on the start button when you press it. Or maybe just hide the fob more than a few feet from the car. It won't open or...

Still trying to keep it clean. But also I can’t be bothered with all the trips this would need with the quad bike and the ground is dry.

No New Land Cruisers in the UK

I think this is "just" the 250 with a Lexus badge for the US market? I'm guessing why you can't order a 150 any more. They have to make what there are orders for before selling the 250. Or of course maybe the 250 will never come to Europe.

No New Land Cruisers in the UK

So same as a 4x4 Duster - unfortunately, I'd much rather have a petrol for what I'd want it for. Certainly not law yet but there's a push to ban diesel in Indian cities within the next 4 years. China phasing out petrol and diesel by 2035. There are some little western nations holding out on...

No New Land Cruisers in the UK

Well this is kick up the arse I need to clean and re-Lanoguard the new one. I might even think about considering contemplating doing a bit more remedial work on the old one. The commerical seems more back to basics than any new Defender. And a *lot* cheaper - OK, if you could buy one. The...

Starting Sill replacement - anyone got pics of sills removed

Prado is just what Toyota calls the baby Land Cruiser in some markets. So that's your 120. But also the 150, 90, and the light duty 70s. A 2003-09 Prado will be a 120. The 1996-03 Prado is what you would have had in Ireland (and we had in the UK) as the Colorado. The part numbers you are...

Removing body to get the Chasis Galvanised- how big a job

I mean 2 weeks ago I could have driven it onto a low loader and taken it to the scrap yard. But after 2 weeks of effort it is now immobile and blocking in one of my trailers.

Removing body to get the Chasis Galvanised- how big a job

Well, I started to lift the body on mine. Not trying to take it off, just enough to get at the rotten bits of chassis. As usual it turns out there are more rotten bits that show up once you start to dig. I knew the floor was starting to go, although not this badly. Still, needed to lift the...

VED rates, new Highway Code rules, victim status for cyclists.....

Cycling proficiency is now called Bikeability. Cyclists in Spain sound terrible. Very different to Wales, where I don't think I've ever felt in danger from another cyclist. I may have been delayed several seconds on some journeys by them though. Loads of nut cases in cars unfortunately, and...

    Clicky starter motor

It does not start with a jump. Well right now it starts on the key! But when it's in its inoperable mode the above applies. I was testing volt drop from the positive battery terminal to the solenoid. And the starter motor back to earth. I will test across the battery terminals as suggested also.

    Clicky starter motor

So this relates to my Jimny, not the Land Cruisers but there are a lot of helpful people here much smarter than me so... Twice in the last month the Jimny has failed to start. The starter motor / solenoid makes repeated fast clicks. Sort of what I'd expect if the battery was duff. But the...

    120/150

Don't know what was really wrong. Car was running fine. One day just popped up DPF full and went into limp mode. Every other DPF regen had been no more than 2 bars to regen out of about 10, ie not much to burn off. Dealer plugged in the computer, it said injector fault - I assumed an injector in...

    Road tax hike

Noticed the other week that in France you now pay additional tax at purchase based on vehicle weight. Anything over 1900kg gets a 10 euro / Kg tax. For a 2385 Kg Land Cruiser 150 that's 5850 euro tax. In addition to all the other emission based tax...

    Road tax hike

After 2017 you pay the emissions weighted tax in the first year only. It's designed to put you off buying the car in the first place. First year on my 150 was £2200 VED :screamcat:. After that it's a flat rate based on engine size (and another few hundred quid if the car was over £40K to buy)...

    120/150

If your 120 is in good shape I really wouldn't bother. My 2022 150 is nicer to be in than my 2005 120, but I think 95% of that is new car smell, v 17 years of use on a farm :) If the 120 wasn't so rusty underneath and I was constantly worried that the rear cross member would come off when I was...

    Bottle Jack

You can't change the oil on any jack. Only on axle stands. Will the factory lift the car onto stands, absolutely. I've never needed a jack to change the oil, but I'm on the scrawny side and I have a handy dip I can park across.
  30. R

    Bottle Jack

Define better? I have a 10ton and 20ton bottle jack that take less effort to lift the car. But much more effort to lift the jack. And because they are uppy-downy handles rather than twirly-whirly handles (sorry if I am dazzling you with engineering terms) you annoyingly smack the cills for the...

    Who needs or wants electric?.......

It is the case. Building Regs changed last year, you have to have EV charging provision. Although still no requirement for new housing developments to have pavements. All we are doing is changing the way we power congestion.

    Road tax hike

As do cars registered after 2017, after the first year (where tax is emissions based). Unless those cars cost in excess of £40K in which case they pay a different fixed fee for the next 5 years, before reverting to the same fixed fee as everyone else. Simples.

Starting a diesel after running out of fuel

Thats interesting to know how the pump works. Weather horrendous here this morning, so I just sat in the car turning the ignition on for a few seconds (not turning the engine) then turning off. Did that about 10 times, tried to start and it did and ran for 3 or 4 seconds. Few more on and offs...

Starting a diesel after running out of fuel

Thanks for the all the suggestions. Rode 230 miles on my bicycle yesterday so not had a surfeit of energy to attack this today. I stuck 20 litres of diesel in. Pulled to outflow pipe on the fuel filter and pumped the prime button. Gave it at least 100 presses and no fuel showing up. Anything...

Starting a diesel after running out of fuel

Was going to use the 120 this morning. It hasn't been started for a couple of weeks so last night I thought I better check it still would in the cold weather. It did, but only just, so I left it on "warm up" or whatever the button is called when it revs a bit harder, noticed the fuel was low so...

Chassis Strut to Axle Broken - pics - how bad?

No, thats the bracket that your lower control arm bolts to on the chassis. You want a bracket for the upper arm, if such a thing exists as an aftermarket part, but I've never seen one. It really isn't hard to fabricate though, just needs a bit of fettling. Round here I'd look for someone who...

Chassis Strut to Axle Broken - pics - how bad?

It could be one piece if you are taking a grinder down the side and splicing it in. The pattern part just seems to be (about) the right profile. Just the job for me probably, but then bits of my side mouldings are either missing or held on with wood screws and No More Nails :-) Form over function!

120 is LWB, 125 is SWB. Opposite to the 90 SWB and 95 LWB. Who knows why?! The chassis are similar, but not definitely the same. Here's the diagram for a 125.

There's some very useful parts on that site! Not sure whether it would be any easier to get from Ireland than Dubai though. But the postage should be cheaper.

Did mine 7 years ago; and as will be abundently clear from the link I am no welder. Or fabricator. https://www.landcruiserclub.net/community/threads/snap.145682/ What I can tell you is the other side went about 18 months later. And then maybe 2 or 3 years after that one of the brackets pulled...

Mine was leaking under the seal (rather than between the seal and the door). What Model Year VDJ200 (European) are DPF equipped?

I don't know about the 200, but I read a lot about the 150 / HiLux since I got my new 150. There has been a class action in Australia about faulty DPFs and Toyota made a number of changes in recent years. They only started adding the manual regen button in 2018; interesting you had yours in...
