There used to be an aquaduct over the North Circular Road in London, near the Ace cafe. It carried the Grand Union Canal and I often wondered how sound it was when driving under it. It was replaced in the 90s by a new longer one which was constructed next to the old one..

Apologies if already done, but have you tried bleeding ? The way to do this is to get both front wheels of the ground and with the engine running slowly go from lock to lock several times.

Back in the 1990s the ethos at MB seemed to change from built to a quality to built to a cost.

Did you bleed the new master cylinder ? If not it might be worth a try (plenty of rags handy !).

Just a thought, but if it's affecting both front brakes, it could be worth checking the flexible hose that runs to the front axle (90947-02815). Sometimes when they get old, they can start to break down internally and restrict the reverse flow of the brake fluid.

I’ve come to the conclusion that being in my 70s, aches and pains are trying to tell me something, so I took a punt on one of these. Not cheap, a bit less than a tyre, but it's well made, does help and it’s nice and shiny ! Just having had all the wheels off to go through the brakes it worked...

Hmm, new cvj but old or badly fitted seal on the diff, not a huge job....could well be a candidate for the 90s lacework rear of the year award.

Time to replace the old tyres. Rubber hardens as it ages, especially in hot climates.

+1 I had to replace injection pump seals with Viton ones on a Mercedes that had been running on veg oil.

Not sure if it applies to the 200, but on the 90s, the positioning (i.e. depth relative to the outer surface) of the seal makes a difference to how well it works.

If not already checked, prop shaft phasing might be worth a look.

You could try a brake hose clamp if you've got rubber hoses and a bit of cling film under the reservoir cap (don't forget to take it out afterwards).

When I got my 81 it was a bit prone to tram lining and the steering was generally a bit vague. I checked the usual culprits and all was well, no excess play, pretty recent decent shocks and springs, tracking ok etc.. The tyres were BFG A/Ts with well over half the tread left, minimal inter tread...

Could be unrelated but what sort of tyres are fitted and their age ?

If not already seen, it's worth having a look at MOT histories here: Check the MOT history of a vehicle - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club] Not infallible, but it'll give you an idea of problems like rust or poor maintenance that might have come up.
