Hi thanks for all of the reply's. I'm fine just pissed off with the car being written off. The other driver had a bump on his head but nothing too serious.
Ideally I'd like a 24V manual though not too fussed. I'd rather not have something that needs a huge amount of work as I use the car as...
Hi
I've got an 80 series and was involved in a head on RTC this morning. The insurance company are writing it off and I'm trying to find a replacement asap. as well as a valuation. I've had a look around on the internet but does any of you lovely people know any diesel's for sale?
Many...
Bit of a silly question this but my 80’s steering is a little bit vague but when I go through puddles etc it can pull badly to one side. If I were to fit a new/beefier steering damper would that improve the situation?
Many thanks
Rob
Hi.
My 80’s central locking is playing up. It will unlock all doors with the key but will only lock the drivers door. Now I’m very good at taking things apart but I struggle to put them back together again! So is this an easy thing to fault find?
Many thanks
Rob
Hi Chris
My front wings are goosed and this thread gave me a kick in the arse to get them sorted. I emailed Milner last night and they said they can't get any. Do you mind me asking who you talked to?
Many thanks
Rob
Had a friend split a radiator hose in his range rover and the AA man repaired it with glue and kraken tape which seemed to be very effective stuff.

Mines a standard 80 on 275/70R16 BFG All terrains. That's my average over a tank of fuel that is mainly A roads and country lanes with a bit of light off roaring during the shooting season
Hi, Sorry just seen your reply. I'm looking to fit a 3rd battery to run a fridge, some accessory ports and a couple of lights etc. I want a system that isolates both front batteries to avoid accidentally flattening them.
I spent yesterday morning replacing the front section of my exhaust on the 80.
While I was skinning my knuckles I noticed that the passenger side steering knuckle is leaking a lot of grease.
Another job to do now.
Glad you are ok. I was in a shake in New Zealand about 10 years ago and the pressure waves that preceded the aftershocks made me feel a bit sick. Quite a cool sensation.
Thanks for all the advice. Just to show my ignorance yet again is there anything special I need to do given my 80 has two batteries already. My plan is to take a feed off the drivers side battery to the split charge system. Is this ok?
Thanks
Rob
Thanks again to everyone for their help. Special thanks to Gary for taking the time to let me come and ask stupid questions tonight. I will probably be asking many more daft questions in the future!
Rob
Thanks for all the help - much appreciated. I've been pondering this overnight and whilst it's probably the way that I will go. How hard is it to fit a split charge system? I'm not bothered about a battery monitoring system so what will I need? I've been confusing myself on the internet and...
Hi
I've just spent more money than I will ever admit to my wife buying a second hand National Luna fridge. I want to stick it in the rear of the 80 but don't have any power back there. Excuse my ignorance but could I run a cable from the drivers side battery (fused) back there?
I'm not going...
This might be my ignorance showing here but where would I go to get a receiver hitch for my 80? I don't want a towbar permanently attached hence the receiver hitch that I could attach a towball too.

I had the same thing happen on mine yesterday so I took the interior trim off and couldn't find anything wrong with the mechanism. I eventually worked out that it was the lock barrel not turning fully. A bit of WD40 and a lot of wiggling got it working correctly again.
Thanks everyone. I will have a fiddle about. The Fuel cap is original and this has only started since I had the brand new tank fitted. The engine turns over at the normal speed on the key just doesn't fire. I'll see if I can find a leak at the filter housing end and then if I can't find...
looking for some ideas. I've got a Diesel 80 series that normally starts on first turn of the key. I've just had a new fuel tank installed and since then if it's left for a few days it doesn't want to start. I've just been away for the last 10 days and I had to prime the fuel filter with the...
Hi. I've only just seen this thread. When I need Sat phones I hire them from https://www.cellhire.co.uk/ who are based in York. I tend to get Iridium or Inmarsat phones from them but I'm sure if you give them a call they might be able to help or at least point you in the right direction.

After embarrassing itself by pi$$ing diesel all over a mates drive my 80 needs a new fuel tank. Can anyone recommend a supplier that won't make me cry!

Sorry for the delay. He was coming in by air and was stopped at Marrakech. I'm sure that if its in a vehicle out of sight you will be ok. The usual advice applies about being careful where you use it.
Im looking forward to seeing all the photos!
Hi
I've been following this thread for a while as I've spent a lot of time taking school groups to Morocco. I don't know if it was this thread but I'm sure somebody was thinking about taking a drone out with them.
I've just had an update from one of my contacts and a client of his had been...
Hmm, just been lying under my 80 as you do and realised that I have a diesel leak from the tank somewhere. I've not noticed it before but I did fill it up yesterday. Anything obvious that I can check or is it a new fuel tank?
Thanks
Rob
