Here is what I did on my KZJ78 I have finally finished rebuilding my front hubs and converting from electric locking hubs to manual ones. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I thought I would share what I did to overcome the fact that the manual wheel hubs i.e. the part the wheel bolts to and...

    Exhaust puzzle

I decided to cut and make a sleave for the centre section to make it easier to get over the chassis. No idea why it is not made like this in the first place. I had some spare pipe that was the same ID as the toyota OD.

KZJ78 Transfer case rear output shaft bearing

A little write up on rebuilding the transfer case. Firstly, I must Thank Otramms YouTube channel for a very informative rebuild video. OTRAMM VIDEO. Although I have an automatic gearbox it is almost the same procedure. Along with the workshop manual this was a great help. I did the job in-situ...

'Deleting' multiple fuel filler pipes KZJ78

Ah thanks Iwan, If the pipes are salvagable I will leave alone. But I will probably just vent the fuel cap and block up the small pipes at the tank end. What an over engineered system! Graeme

'Deleting' multiple fuel filler pipes KZJ78

But if there is a breather then there can be no vacuum? And diesel fuel systems send unused fuel back to the tank via a return pipe. If you car won't start when down to a 1/4 tank it would suggest the breater is blocked.

'Deleting' multiple fuel filler pipes KZJ78

One job in the pipeline (excuse the pun) involves removing the fuel tank. I have never seen a set up like it. Multiple pipes going to and fro the tank from the filler neck. I am used to the main filler and a single breather pipe. My question therefore is can I 'delete' the other pipes and have a...

    Exhaust puzzle

As has been said what a tedious job. I needed to remove mine as I am rebuilding the transfer case in the vehicle. I got it up on ramps at the front and almost as high at the back on chassis stands. I also loosened the fuel pipes so I could maneouver the pipe. What a stupid design! I hope I can...

KZJ78 Transfer case rear output shaft bearing

After replacing the whole front-end wheel bearings etc, I still have the rumbling that I thought was the wheel bearings. So now I think it is the rear transfer case output shaft bearing. I have removed the rear prop shaft and the noise has gone. I can move the prop shaft flange at the gearbox...

Hi Iwan, I can't seem to find them on the Milner site. It's as if there isn't enough thread on the stub axle! So would you send me a link please. Also with the spacer will it not alter the position of the disc and then the caliper won't fit? A right pain this is...I will get around it though...

    Hubs from a Hilux for a kjz78

Thanks for the replies. I have been away so have only just seen them. The wheel bearings have been slipping on the stub axle and thus knackered that, hence I need a new one. The cv joint doesn't look good so I am replacing that as well. All the above parts were correct and cross referenced by...

    Starter Motor problems

Groove on front axle ball, is it normal? KZJ78

I am renovating my front hubs and having stripped everything down, the ball on the end of the axle (I am not sure what it's called) where the swivel fits has a groove in it that goes around the circumference. Is this normal on Toyotas? I know that Landrovers are totally smooth. Also landrover...

Can anyone help me find the hubs from a Hilux to fit my KZJ78 What I thought was a wheel bearing gone turns out to be the hub shaft. I have had a similar problem with my Iveco. New starter motor fixed it. Even a repairer said it happens sometimes, and he was not trying to sell me a new unit!
