Alright bud.
Looks awesome, shame about the gearbox. Cant believe the condition of the chassis
When are you thinking about doing the rebuild? I've got to get a terrain tamer rebuild kit (mate from LA bringing one over in July) and was thinking about the long spline transfer gear... dont know...
Hi David.
It should bolt to the chassis just underneath the battery tray. If you drop the battery in, attach the terminal and swing the cable you should see where it attaches.
After stuffing the VM into a hedge and rolling onto its side I've thought long and hard what to do.
Decided that when we get back off our trip to sell it as a rolling project, or if there's enough demand, break it.
As a project it would sell:
With an MoT until October (I think) 2019

I have to fit a second dropper for the fag lighter urgently now... long story.
Only used for charging phones. Does anyone know will 5amp 60w be enough?
Thanks
One thing I've noticed. When I first wired the stereo in on the 12v feed there a was perfect radio reception. Now with it wired in off the 24 >12 dropper its pretty crap... lots of interference. The dropper is installed under the dash. Wanted it to be easily accessible just in case it cooked...
Fitted this afternoon. took this before i tidied it up. multimeter read 25v in, 12v out. piece of cake to fit.5amp, 60watt big enough to run the stereo.
Left the 12v feed from the battery to the fag lighter in situ but will replace with another beefier one of these as soon as I can...
One thing I thought of was to try to drill/remove the snapped stud with the manifold in situ, then fit a new stud. dribble some wellseal into the top of the manifold joint then re-tighten. just a thought.
what is the 3B cylinder head made from? Is the hot gas escaping going to damage it?
Will do. As it happens the stereo that I was trying to fit last night was bust. I tried another today with a permanent feed to red and yellow spliced together and it worked fine. It stays on when the ignition is turned off/key out... but I wanted that anyway. Just have to remember to turn it...
The good lady and I are travelling overland to Ibiza in a week and I'm just about finished prepping the truck.
Waiting for an alternator belt to arrive tomorrow morning and just about done. Just about everything that can be changed/flushed/refilled/cleaned/fixed has been.
The only thing I...

K252: Diff Code
these pages should help with those (they're for LCs sold into american/canadian market):

Just bought one. Think I have a switched 24v feed so in theory just plumb it into that and away we go. Going to bang in a couple of fusible links as well.
I've been trying to wire in a stereo. Fun.
Real mish mash of wires behind the dash. Got several permanent 24v and a couple of 12v feeds but cant find a 12v switched feed off the ignition.
Can anyone point me in the direction of an easily found 12 switched feed?
Thanks
These are what I ordered... the ones that arrived have same part number but are smooth v belt.

Ordered some new belts recently. Going to fit this afternoon. Alternator/WP and Power Steering.
The ones fitted have cogs, the ones that have arrived don't. I've read the ones without run hotter and are less efficient but I don't know if it'll make lots of difference.

Hi,
I've never removed gearbox and transfer box, so I'm not 100 certain but my guess is the bell housing has to come off as it contains various bits and bobs that interact with the input shaft.
Pic below of the inside of the bell housing of mine when I had the engine out last year. Different...
The top rear exhaust manifold stud has snapped off on the3B in mine.
Given some thought on how it could be done with the manifold still on.
The biggest problem would be getting the hole in the stud centred well enough. You could do this by popping a pre drilled steel or hardwood plug/guide in...
About three days ago noticed high pitched chirp noise coming from passenger footwell area. Happens only at the bottom end of revs - pulling away from standing in second or pulling away from low revs in any gear - under strong load.
Thought it might be the power steering pump but checked that...
Not too bad. Bent leaf spring. Snapped shock. N/S Wing and inner wing. Few other bits and bobs.
Off the road now until April when I'll set about sorting it out
Going to be stripping the whole lot out some time in the spring. March/April. It's all there but untested.
No idea of the value.
Might also have a spare exchanger unit (the one from under the passenger glove box) if I can be bothered stripping it of of the crashed VM.
Thx StarCruiser.
Bit of a bummer... throwing a tarp over it until the spring now. Got the other one on the road yesterday.
Always fancied a trip to Romania.
Hi all,
Forgive me... I should have thrown this open to the club sooner but just wanted to crack on.
My VM BJ73 has still not sold after several weeks of ebay and gumtree ads... I've accepted three bids. All three were no shows.
As yet nobody has actually turned up to view it.
I'd like to...
