    Morrocco..

Waypoint tours went out of business a few years ago but I believe Barrie has a new outfit now. There's a hand full of new tours operators appeared recently, some have only ever done 1 trip to Morocco and really don't know the country. Benefits of going on a tour can be huge particularly when...

I know Kev and Heike and will be seeing them next week. However I believe they are running a tour in West Africa in the New Year so won't be available for Morocco. Couple of forum members did a tour with them earlier in the year. Feel free to drop me a Pm about Morocco tours if you want to...

    Tyre deflators.

I think the front runner link shows how much people are prepared to pay with the right badge on them. Mine cost less than £20 work perfectly and by the time I’ve screwed the last one on the first has finished deflating. I use them pretty heavily often inflating and deflating several times a day

    Cooling the 1KZ-TE motor:

Guess I was lucky with mine maybe. 240k miles stock rad and no problems. Almost all of my use has been in Morocco and the Western Sahara. Only once has the temp gauge risen and that was due to the viscous not cutting in. I tried re filling it according to the various threads and only managed...

    Cleaned out my K&N filter...

Blowing out the filter is detailed in the Toyota FSM. Here almost every time a mechanic opens a bonnet the filter is cleaned with air. Blow from the inside out then you cannot force dirt further into the filter or damage the element

    Cleaned out my K&N filter...

I think it’ll be fine in the U.K. if you keep it cleaned and oiled Waters not so much an issue for my use but dust is. We had these conditions last week for several hour on one of the old Dakar routes and 50 degree temps

    Cleaned out my K&N filter...

Might be worth spending some time reading filter reviews such as this one https://www.project200.com.au/filter-testing/ Filters like the K&N achieve better airflow by being more porous than the standard paper filter. Ie letting more into the engine. The oil goes someway remove and filter...

    Absolutely Gutted In Morocco

43 degrees in Morocco today. Perfect for another 800km in the desert as we head south. Nov/Dec 2017 was very cold. Same time last year was above 30 during the day. May this year saw snow in the edge of the Sahara, very unusual.

Richard Hammond reveals the new Land Rover Defender

Hate to say it but compared to Toyotas only offering in the UK, on paper the new Defender has the 150 beat in most important areas as an off roader (except price and looks). Only other decent size offering in the UK is the G-wagon. Still if you want some entertainment go and browse some Land...

chassis back end is a know weakness. I was alarmed when recovering a rally buggy to the finish line of this years Morocco Desert Challenge, the side I thought was better cracked and bent. Rusted through from the inside. The other side was held together by rust proofing and paint!

Any landcruiser will make a good overlander, pros and cons for all of them. Basically you've got the top end Heavy Duty 70 series which is pretty much the worlds overlander of choice. Hard to find in the UK and expensive. Then theres the 80, 100's series luxury barges, just watch out for...
