Real Time Help Needed High Beam

Ok, so it seems I am in fact an idiot. Should know after all these years working on the 80 to check the simple things first. Went to check the relays as suggested and noticed there are 4 x15amp fuses for each of the headlight bulbs. Yep, high beam PS blown. What surprises me is Toyota wiring...

Real Time Help Needed High Beam

I tried a spare high beam bulb I had but no difference. Just to be double sure I'll try swapping over the bulbs tomorrow when light and see what happens. Would a blown high beam bulb also knock out the working dip beam bulb on that side when high turned on? Bloody typical with MOT in couple of days.

Real Time Help Needed High Beam

Really clueless about electric side even after looking at EWD I have. If it was a duff relay would that not effect both driver and passanger headlights? Currently drivers side has working dip and full beam where the passanger side dip works until i use high beam then no lights on PS while driver...

Real Time Help Needed High Beam

Hi All, I hoping somebody on the forum can help with lights problem on my 93' hdj80. Was out checking them for my MOT this week and dipped beam is fine but on full beam the passanger side dip and full beam both go out. The drivers side is fine. Thinking it can't be a full beam bulb blown as...

Anyone else had issues with their Pedders 2" setup?

Yeah Dave, had my doubts it was the shocks as fitted a fresh set and nothing improved. Have had a chance for a closer look and it’s clear the 2 bolt heads on rear DS mount have been contacting the body. Not sure why body mount rubbers on that side have compressed compared to the PS but will be...

Anyone else had issues with their Pedders 2" setup?

Yeah Frank, I replaced the gearbox mounts last year when fitting new clutch so they are good. I think Andy has hit the nail on the head. Looking at the body mounts I noticed the very rear mount DS has 2 bolt heads that have been clearly hitting the body. The mount on the opposite side I can...

    Odd MOT argument today

Apologies for slow replies, didn’t notice this thread was still going. Where I live is different to the Mainland regarding MOTs. We can’t just go to any garage testing centre like I used to do when lived in Leicester years ago. Instead there are government run centres around the country that...

Anyone else had issues with their Pedders 2" setup?

Thanks, certainly worth checking the rubber body mounts. Will get my young fella to drive it at w’end and I’ll get in the back like u mentioned. Might at least give me an idea what area it’s coming from. Cheers.

Anyone else had issues with their Pedders 2" setup?

Baffled by this one. Got a good heavy pry bar on all the rear bushes and nothing out of the ordinary. Same with all associated nuts&bolts. It has to be something substantial contacting given the bang through the cab. Very odd only happens when the rear axle does a quick down/up movement on...

Anyone else had issues with their Pedders 2" setup?

Thanks for thoughts fellas. Never thought might be some failed bushes or even a rusty mount hidden under all the waxoil. It’s good at hiding problems. I’ll get a good pry bar on the rear end and see if anything gives. Thought maybe exhaust but the waxoil would leave its mark and too heavy/loud a...

    Odd MOT argument today

Just to finish off this thread, I did push the government department that regulates the MOTs over here to tell me what action they planned to take regarding this specific clown but they would only say how seriously they are taking the matter. I'm sure. Its very much a case of protecting their...

Anyone else had issues with their Pedders 2" setup?

Was wondering if anyone on the forum has had a similar problem with their rear suspension. Quite a few years ago now I fitted the Pedders 2" heavy duty lift kit to the 80 and back then if I hit a big enough pothole there was an almighty metal contacting with metal bang. As it happened rarely...

Where to buy window weather strips?

Another company worth a look is https://www.ssg.asia/ Used them a few times recently for high price items. I find with all these dubai/japan companies its best to gather a good list of items so the savings offset the high freight charges. Also its luck of the draw if get clobbered with import...

    Odd MOT argument today

Yeah Frank, my full beam indicator is fine and MOT reports where I am are a bit different than the mainland as there are no real tick boxing its more a summary of minor/major faults and braking efficiency etc. I should have posted up the MOT failure as he had put the regulation it related to. I...

    Odd MOT argument today

He was very young and full of his own importance. I stood for a good 20 minutes arguing that my truck does not have a dipped beam indicator just to have him recite what road rule says it must. I knew he was full of crap but i drove home half convinced I’m maybe wrong. Anyhow by the time I’ve...

    Odd MOT argument today

Thanks for your replies guys. I thought I was losing my mind. This means war. Unfortunately in NI the MOT centres are government run but first thing tomorrow I'll be lodging a formal complaint with the civil service clowns that run these tests and the MOT tester personally. I will also...

    Odd MOT argument today

Hi, Been a long time since I posted on the forum but thought I would share a really odd time at the MOT today. I young fella is trying to fail my 93' cruiser as he can't see an indicator on the dash for when the headlight dipped beam is on. Had my cruiser since 2010 and only remember a High...

    24v Starter PITA

Think might take it to an auto electrician for extra straps as likely i'll make things worse! Just had a look again and the earth connection on my no. 1 battery has a thin wire to the inner panel and then the thicker cable runs down and terminates against the engine block side just above the...

    24v Starter PITA

Cheers. I had previously checked all the connections for the batteries and the various relays and they seem sound. So if I understand correctly my options are to replace the original battery to block earth strap as this is likely the problem or run a same size strap from number 1 battery neg...

    24v Starter PITA

Unfortunately the lecky side is not my strong point. I can see one earth strap running down from the number one battery and attached to the engine block. Tyre cracks

That’s interesting info with the speed rating. Did seem odd the k version isn’t sold elsewhere. Can’t blame the cracks on standing unused as used each day. Is odd 2 of the tyres are free of damage. reluctantly I’ll need to change my MTs for peace of mind. I’d better grab a set quick before...

Yeah Richard, no complaints that way about them. Still drive great. Was more a concern if possible safety issues with family in the motor. Blow outs and the likes. If forced to replace with STTs then will get a spare set of wheels and continue to thrash them off road. Will see what Mickey T...
