    More EU bollocks

Probably one for the tyre section.. Time has arrived to change probably best M/T tyre I've used, Mickey Thompson MTZs. Turns out no go - we can no longer supply these in the UK due to EU laws. WTF? So far looking for 315/75/16 M/T alternatives I can only see Cooper STT pro in the UK that seem...

    Is this the end???

Just heard on the news they are considering paying high polluting diesels owners to scrap their cars. Thinking with most of our 80s reaching quarter century old we would be considered 'high' in the pollution scale. Wondering if they start this scheme and you decide the crusher is not the best...

    Milner off road question

milner used to offer super quick courier to N.I. or RM for less urgent. Think they only offer ££ courier now to N.I. but could be wrong. Found Rough Trax charges easier to stomach and maybe worth a shout. Dave.

    isolating annoying vibration/bellowing noise

Thanks for ideas fellas. Its all work and no play at minute so had no time to try out suggestions. Will have a good look around the firewall/air box/inlet as could well be something like that. Pain in the ass only happens when engine under load, head stuck in the bay revving engine and nowt...

    isolating annoying vibration/bellowing noise

:grinning: Yeah they are tough old goats. Over engineering seemed to be thought of the day when they designed them. Have to wonder at well over 200k miles, when will it stop being a reliable daily driver. Then again, it might outlast me....

    isolating annoying vibration/bellowing noise

No, all standard in the engine bay. Will start with the simple stuff like exhaust and go up from there. Maybe if I could find a company with a rolling road then could get the rev with the engine under some sort of load and hear were it is. Wish whatever it is would drop off/break and then I...

    isolating annoying vibration/bellowing noise

Thats true Julian. Guess if mechanical as you mention it would show up more than that at 1100rpm as the turbo is still kicking above that and there is no noise. Even though sounds like coming from engine bay, a vibration could travel. Will give the mounts a good look over again. Cheers again...

    isolating annoying vibration/bellowing noise

Cheers fellas. I'm starting to think engine related as the exhaust including the flex is in good nick. Pain in the ass to isolate as only happens at 1100rpm under load, not above or below it. Did notice white powdery type deposit on one of the rubber water pipes that run near the manifold heat...

    isolating annoying vibration/bellowing noise

Hoping somebody can give me some idea how to narrow down a loud bellowing sound that my 80 is getting. Hard to explain the noise in text. I can't figure if it is a vibration as it is more a loud bellowing sound that I first thought was exhaust or maybe manifold stuffed as seems to come from...

    Got an old bike?

Ok so not cruiser related but it is not often you get something back from the government. Plenty probably know this but was news to me. I just received a new V5 doc from Swansea which kinda surprised me as have owned the bike over 10 years. Gave them a bell and it turns out any pre 1976 bikes...

    HDK CV's?

I'm one of the lucky ones with HDKs as fitted them 3 years ago running 35s MT mixture on/off road. Will be interested to see state of them when eventually get round to servicing the axle again. I got mine from Milners and only intended them as a temporary fix until got the OE money together...

    Pedders shock bush failure?

Not sure if your rear washer setup is the same as mine but the OE shock bolts are fitted with the bowl shape fitting against the bush and the opposite washer was set the same on my original shocks when I removed them. Doesn't look right as natural to think the bush would fit inside the recess...

    Pedders shock bush failure?

If we are talking about the rear lower bushes, Pedders actually sent me 2 piece Poly replacements when mine first failed. Still haven't fitted them yet as the older type replacement shocks they sent with the 2 piece rubber bush have lasted so far. Still think there had been some sort of...

    anyone tryed speedi sleeve?

Dave, Will be interested to hear how you get on with the Marlin seals. Last time I did a axle rebuild I threw a couple in to see if they helped with the grooves. Ended up going back in and pulling the trigger on some new half shafts and OEM seals to properly fix leaky issues. Could well have...

50yr old Morris Minor 2750 miles from new

    Looks like a good idea....

To be fair to Trial-Gear, they are aiming this at folk who still use their 80's offroad and looking at Mud, the US folk give them a good thrashing in fairly extreme conditions, hence more regular maintenance. I also think it is commendable that there are still companies out thinking up new...

    Looks like a good idea....

Noticed this on Trail-Gear and struck me as a pretty good idea. Might be useful for those still using their 80 offroad and sticking bigish miles on them. Would probably end up fairly pricey with freight, import duties and likes and probably not rebuilding front end enough to justify but does...

    LSPV removal

Dropping the tank Chris would be an option and may end up doing that. Heat will probably work for the small securing nuts but the bolts running through the body might be a different story. yeah clive, not saying all garages are bad and seems you have a good one(this can be read as lucky git).
