Sold in 2016, bought back in 2023 My 1994 M reg 80 series 12v manual VX

Hi Adrian! when Pete told me you had bought her back I was thrilled, I was absolutely gutted to see her go, as was my better half. silly how emotionally attached you get to these things isn't it? anyway I hope she will still do you proud, she is a bit battered but she's done a lot of work! all...

    4.2 Patrol

I've got it advertised for £10.950. it's an import so no rust, and some other nice go faster bits, namely big turbo and a 4" stainless pipe. needless to say there would be a forum member discount! the advert is on FB marketplace. rob

    1hdt oil pressure light.

apologies for the very late update! good news, removed the oil level sensor. couldn't see anything mechanically the matter with it, so had a look on YouTube and there was a chap having the same issue as me. he found that both nuts (tiny 6mm things) that hold the assembly together were loose, and...

    1hdt oil pressure light.

Dave, what can I say, that's a wealth of information and I'm grateful to you for taking the time to write it out. I think the first course of action (after reading all of your thread on MUD) is to do an oil change and whip that sensor out whilst the sump is empty. see if it can be unstuck, if...

    1hdt oil pressure light.

Grimbo, I'm pleased you said that, it was my thought process too. Shayne, I think that merits some looking into. I'm not against having a stand alone gauge alongside the boost and EGT gauges but one that worked with the standard gauge would be nicer, even if just to avoid having a dead gauge...

    1hdt oil pressure light.

morning, thanks for the input, upon further inspection the light is orange/yellow, not red. I've read that some had an oil level light, not oil pressure. I'm wondering if that's the warning I'm getting. of course there's oil in it but there is a plug on the sump that would be ideally placed to...

    1hdt oil pressure light.

Evening, oil pressure light came on earlier (very alarming!) however the gauge hasn't changed any of its habits and everything is still running nicely. would this be a sender issue or an electrical gremlin? many thanks, Rob

    80 series pickup conversions.

Thanks for the replies guys. Karl, would love to see some pictures, thanks! Should I get an 80?

it's got to be an 80 really, I did 580 miles last weekend, including wales's most technical lanes in complete comfort and with no issues whatsoever. they are expensive and they do have rust issues but that's all fixable, and once it's solid it'll last a lifetime. I honestly don't know what I'd...

    1hdt fuel cutoff solonoid

hello yes I did mine myself but the main fuel screw is very easy to take out so it wasn't a very involved job. if you give the injection pump a good scrub with a toothbrush and some brake cleaner you should be able to find the leak. mine looked very much like the stop solenoid was at fault but...

    1hdt fuel cutoff solonoid

    1hdt fuel cutoff solonoid

So a bit of progress, seems to be a bit of coincidence going on here! The feed to the stop solenoid just needed a new ring terminal, the end of the wire was almost completely broken through so crimping a new one on seems to have sorted that. I've replaced the IGN fuse and now the abs light...

    1hdt fuel cutoff solonoid

Evening all, Had my first ever non start today. Bit of poking revealed the fuel solenoid had no power and that I had a reasonable sized diesel leak from what looks like to top of said solenoid. I put a 12 feed from the driver's side battery and it started right up, albeit with the leak, and...

    Box section sills

Sorry for the delay, haven't go the best pictures but they might show what's going on, basically the sill is cut off above the bottom crease, folded to 90 degrees then the box section is sat on to and welded. Then drain holes drilled through that folded section of inner sill.

The box is notched around it, I'm not sure I've got a picture of that but it wasn't technical, just fiddly. I'll try and post some more pictures. And I'll take some from underneath tomorrow.

    3” exhaust centre section

Hoping this may be of use to someone? It’s the centre section with silencer that came with the full system I bought from performance exhaust in Aus. For sale: most of a front runner slimline 2 rack

For sale, most of the slimline 2 rack that I’ve taken off my 80 series. It’s missing 3 of the bars and the feet. All parts are available new (and now you can spec any feet so it’ll fit any vehicle!) Not really sure how to price it, £400? Plus the cost of the parts needed it’s still a good...

    80 series lift kit!

I have a 2.5” lift and no adjustable rods, seems ok. My only other advice would be not to fit the castor correction bushes, they don’t flex much and can cause cracks on the front axle casing (ask me how I know) I refitted standard bushes and fitted a set of castor correction plates from Karl on...

    Rear quarter rust repairs.

Haha I try to conserve energy too, first lesson in forestry my old man taught me, don’t lift anything that doesn’t need lifting. I could always do it the way I put an engine in my SJ a few years back, it worked surprisingly well.

That looks really smart, good work! I got under mine earlier and it’s actually not quite as bad as I thought, probably more like patching rather than rebuilding but I know how these jobs snowball! I’ll get the bumper off soon and post some pictures. Thanks for sharing yours mate, very helpful. Rob

Doing something about the rust in my rear quarter panels(behind the bumper in the usual place) is getting near the top of the to do list. I’ve seen a few pictures online where folk have chopped off the lower section at boot floor level, which looks like a lot less fabrication, has anyone on...
