I had this exact issue last fall, new filler cap, filter housing and heater fixed it. I'm sure it was a leak in the primer pump, it would allow fuel to drain back to the tank overnight. Wish I had seen this thread earlier. Glad it's running now!
It's been cold here lately, -20 F this morning(not sure what that is in degrees sCience) so my brother took pity and let me park in his heated shop for the night. Gave her a once over checking fluids, tires, etc. Drained the water separator. Now I'm letting it thaw out and make a mess all over...
My KZJ78 started doing that this week. Mine started as normal, short warm up and made it 2 blocks from the house and died. I changed the fuel filter but couldn't get the primer to draw fuel from the tank. Removed the filter and blew some air through the pump and it started working. Only thing I...
The old pipe had cracked and broken in two behind the hanger bracket so removal was easy. There are 5 mounting points for the body on the right side of the frame, you can probably get away with loosening the rear 4. Penetrating oil and an impact are recommended(mine is mostly rust free so wasn't...
I finally got it! After hours of trying, I ended up loosening the body mounts and jacking it up to gain enough clearance. It still was tight and needed a judicious application of violence to get it in place. Hope I don't have to do it again for a long time!
Installed new brake pads in front this morning. Since the fronts aren't making horrible sounds anymore, I noticed that the rears were squealing. Changed them out tonight.
It's so quiet now!
Odd thing is that the squealing rears were only worn about 50%!
Mine is down to 2 speeds. Luckily it's the two fastest! Probably just going to run it as is and get a new fan for when it quits. Airflow seems adequate and you could hang meat in it with the a/c maxed on recirc.
I have been having an intermittent starting problem, clicks no crank. I had successfully ignored it since it always eventually started. Yesterday it stopped being an intermittent problem...in the middle of my mail route. Thanks to some links and GOOD advice posted on this forum I got it apart...
Whoever owned it Japan put on the fiberglass body kit. I don't get it either but it's gone now, waiting for the factory bumper ends to get here from megazip so it can look right. It's got the Jeep tiny bumper look and I don't like it. On the servicing side, it will be on a maximum maintenance...
I have a similar problem, some of the time I turn the key and hear a click no crank. If I continue to cycle the key eventually it will engage the starter. It has never failed to start though. I have the same problem on another Toyota car changed the starter no problems for about 4 months, but...
