    Rust Repairs and Respray

Looks awesome with the trailer! How do you find touring with a trailer, not worried about getting stuck on any tight trails? I do like the idea of being able to leave your 'home' to go exploring rather than having to pack the roof tent away each time. Where was that photo taken?

Haha, serious size, can see why you need to clearance the arches with them. You modifying it for a specific purpose, ie competing, or just for fun?

the creep and go 80 refurb thread.

But if your planning to keep the vehicle long term it makes total sense. Dont want to be going back in there after 6 months to replace something. I'd rather do it all once.

the creep and go 80 refurb thread.

Trouble is where do you call the line with a restoration like this . Have done a similar thing on one of my other cars, it got very quickly out of hand! Paint, new bushes and cad plating everything

    1989 Factory Reset-ish

Assuming your tank is not rusted through, you can get a sealing compound that you put into the tank, seal up the filler etc and slosh around to create a corrosion free surface all inside the tank.

    1989 Factory Reset-ish

The whirring noise in the dash (assuming it's not the heater fan) is on my 80, what appears to be a cooling fan for the radio? I have the same noise and had a dig about and found that there is what looks like a PC style fan, but factory, in up above where the radio sits...might be something...

    Portugal GPX files?

We will be going back to Portugal in late may early June for another 2 weeks. It's so accessible, being new to offroading and camping we really enjoyed it. Good way to test out what works, what to take etc

    3” series 80 exhausts.

Hi All, Cam made this exhaust for my 80 series.I can confirm the workmanship is top notch, proper materials and welding. The sound of it is not any louder than (I think it was original) the old system, but as you pour on the coals it has a great noise to it. If any one wants any more...

    Really?

Good spot, red suspension coils and dampers in the body off photo too...

    Really?

Looks very tidy, nice to have had a full body off chassis restoration. Only proper way to do it.
  15. F

    Really?

The landrover crowd have an adaptor plate off the bmw gearbox to make their transfer box work. Wiring is not as hard as you think. Most is contained to the engine and gearbox ecu.
  16. F

    Really?

Mate of mine is fitting one to his LR 90, have seen them in Patrols too. Plenty of them about. Plus get adaptor plates made up to fit different gearboxes. Ive got a 530d with over 200k and it still drives lovely. If the engine in my LC ever dies I'd fit one, it's much better power delivery...
  17. F

    Really?

    Yes essentially
  18. F

    Really?

You thought about fitting a bmw M57 or similar, 3.0 diesel, seen them in lots of other 4x4s. Enough power and torque
  19. F

    Really?

45k just for the parts? Or fitting all included? For that price I'd be expecting all the electrics and aircon to be working spot on!!
  20. F

    Really?

I dont quite understand that style of build. Cant see what it adds to the vehicle. It's not like you can sleep in there like a full on camper body. The execution looks to be well made, but not sure much more practicality is gained over leaving the back original and having a set of gull wings...

    Portugal GPX files?

Another vote for wikiloc, we used it for 10 days north to south portugal, was super useful and easy to use. Either following other peoples routes or just using it as a mapping tool to make our own route. I was under the impression that wild camping was allowed just no open fires...we wild...

    Anyone know Overland Cruisers

Especially as one persons description of a second hand 20yo part being good condition/mint varies a lot between people.

    Anyone know Overland Cruisers

Yea, it was really strange. Spoke to him on the phone and even after I said I wont pay before seeing photos as it was a long way to drive for something that could have been junk, he in essence said I'll have to buy the parts from some one else. I was actually a bit taken aback by his attitude ‍

    Anyone know Overland Cruisers

Cant comment on quality of 80 breakers parts. But after enquiring about some parts and wanting photos of the items before paying to have them posted. He refused and it became a bit awkward... Found the parts elsewhere

Awesome, thanks for that. Love the design and the price seems very sensible for what is included in the kit. Having built in tow points is really great idea.

    Front Diff studs?

Have you tried Toyota themselves or Roughtrax? Personally I would be concerned that the others might be weakened if you have over tightened them too but they have not snapped yet. Are you able to get hold of a torque wrench?

Hzj80 questions - new to Land Cruiser

Hi, The hook in the last photo if for when the seats are folded fully forwards, you then can hook it up to the grab handle in the roof to stop them falling back down. There is a pouch in the seat you can tuck it into. The bump stop is not a game changer. Depending on local conditions, either...

    Power problems

Mine was dog slow and very underpowered when I first got it. Getting the injectors rebuilt transformed it to much more normal levels or drive-ability. But also had a very thorough service too as it didnt really come with a lot of history.
  37. F

    Anyone know Overland Cruisers

Yes exactly a phone call to explain the situation and let the customer know whats going on. Even if its bad news or delays goes a massive way to helping keep customers happy.

    Anyone know Overland Cruisers

Totally agree with you. In such a small specific market reputation is very important. Its a shame that he hasnt been able to manage things better. I wasn't meaning to dismiss other peoples not so happy experiences. More just some balance as often peoples positive experiences are less often...

    Anyone know Overland Cruisers

I have been taking my LC to Julian for the last few years. Generally my experience has been positive. They have done a lot of work to my truck, suspension change, bushes, BEB, intercooler etc etc. But can totally see and understand peoples frustrations. They have had several guys leave early...

    Speedometer quit

Slight hijack of the OP thread, but have any of you had the speedo reading too fast? Mine reads nearly double at times. Seems to do it pretty consistently if after starting the car I go in reverse and then drive forward it reads way too fast. It must be in the cluster as the odo is reading...
