On reflection.... it may well have passed the emissions test because half the exhaust crap was being diverted to the engine bay.... probably best not to mention that to the tester.......

I had that done, but the mechanics were worried it wouldn’t pass the emissions test so they put it back the way it was. I’ve still got the parts, so might do it again next week, after it’s annual test.

That’s kind of you to post, was having trouble (while in the chip queue) finding the name of it. Having searched for a replacement however, I think a bit of aluminium tape is preferable to the £350 people on eBay are asking. The last one was replaced in Ukraine and cost a fraction of that...

Thanks for all the replies…… whether it’s the right solution or not, we think we worked out that the turbo wasn’t working. The mechanic says there was a split somewhere in the pipe work and one of the gates and the turbo itself was overwhelmed in soot. He’s taken it all apart (and hopefully)...

That’s really kind to mention it. The one i’ve ordered has an intermittent rating of 455amps, 275 continuous. Hopefully it won’t melt!

Yes, absolutely. I’m not with the car now, but even from the pictures I can see there’s a very small ground to chassis from the passenger side (second) battery, and I can’t be sure but it seems that’s it’s only connection. There must be another connection from the first somewhere to ground...

Thanks. Will try checking the sensors, as far as I can tell, the overdrive switch is working as far as the dashboard, and it’s certainly something I tried toggling on and off when it happened, but it made no difference. I’ll investigate further, and try and find someone to plug it in and check...
