GRJ78 Troopy to Overland ready home

Hi Gr8Yota, Thanks for your answer. Yes I watched it but they didn't measure the internal space (which is quite tricky to do by the way). Nice comparison though. except the space from the support plate to the ceiling, where the mattress is when closed. Don’t know how you can measure it though...

Ok, thanks for that! Did you compare the height of both, from top of mattress to ceiling? It shouldn’t have a big difference, but how much can you store inside when closed? Good evening

So great to follow your build, that's a piece of art. Just wondering, how do you fix the bottom ply wood (floor) to the car. Did you screw it through the body? Thanks :)

    1HD-T vs 1Hz parts availability

Right, I’ve to study a bit more. As far as I remember my mechanic recommended me the H151F….Transfer box of the 80 with 4x2 conversion to stay in part-time 4wd.

    1HD-T vs 1Hz parts availability

Hi, GeekOKent, So do you order at this Website? You’ve never had any problem to get your parts? By the way, which gearbox would you recommend to install in a 78 with a 1HDT. As far as I know the standard gearbox won’t last long with this swap? What do you think?

    1HD-T vs 1Hz parts availability

Thanks GeekOKent! Interesting, didn’t know the 1hd was more common in UK than the 1hz! I’m in Switzerland (almost in Europe :-)), and you can find both but the 1hz is the most represented. Is there an easy way to find which part are common for both engines?

    1HD-T vs 1Hz parts availability

Hi, Actually thinking about swapping a 1Hz for 1 HD-T engine in a 78 which I should own in a close future, but I’m worried about the availability of parts in the future, compares to the 1Hz which is still manufactured. What’s your thoughts about this? Would it be more wise to keep the 1hz?

GRJ78 Troopy to Overland ready home

Great to hearing that! I’m actually close to buy a 1hz with a lot of Km but I’ll make an engine swap with a 1hdtfe (but with mechanical pump). I’m sure I will bother you a bit for advices in a near future if I can finalize this purchase. Thanks in advance By the way, I didn’t get any...

GRJ78 Troopy to Overland ready home

Hello Gr8yota, (I’m now on a HDJ78 (1hdtfe) just to keep you updated ;-)) My question is about sound deadening. Are you happy with your product? Does it also play a role for heat and cold insulation? Which brand is it? Lots of question sorry☺️

    Troopy axles conversion

Nice, didn’t know this correction, I’ll check this out, thx. I’d like to replace both axles, front and rear. From what I heard it should be feasible and also a bit more healthy due to the swap for a more powerful engine….but I’d like some confirmation from people who made this job and also if...

    Troopy axles conversion

Hi there, Still looking for my Troopy, and actually negotiating for a Hzj78 which I’ll let my mechanic make a 1hdtfe swap (with EGR delete, mechanical pump). But my question is related to the axles. I’d like to swap the axle (among other things…gearbox) from an 80 or a 100 to this one...

    Troopy engines, what to choose?

Hi Gr8Yota, Thanks for your answer. For many reason the petrol one seems to be the best option, especially if we want to buy a new one. I’d be happy to have some information about the process to import one from Dubai. Can I contact you in private or do you prefer that I create a new thread...

    1hz - euro norm

Actually from what I learned by doing my homework is that there 1hz with EGR and CAt which makes them euro 4, especially for the German market. For me, not at all. Actually I was in the process to buy a 78 when I noticed it was euro 4, reason why I asked the question. I want to buy this model...

    1hz - euro norm

Hi there, Is the engine 1hz always in euro 2 norm or some mods have been made in the latest version to put them in euro 4. If that’s the case what kind of mods, EGR, CAT? (I just go through some selling places on the net and I saw a 78 2010 with 1hz and it’s written euro 4. I’m wondering if...

    Troopy engines, what to choose?

Hi, Thanks for this information. I’m totally confident that the 1GR is a good motor and totally reliable. But you know that’s not an easy choice to make between diesel and petrol (between reliability, MPG and easy to repair on my own) for the purpose of overlanding around the globe. You said MPG...

    Troopy engines, what to choose?

Hi firewout, thanks for this answer, especially the words of the technician. Day after day, my choice go towards this (1hz with turbo). I tried a 1GR in Botswana. Nice but nothing incredible compared to the the 76 I drove in the past. When you say low mileage, what would be enough low? I’m...

Hi Nick, thanks a lot for all your answer and insights. Indeed, I think you are the first in my life in social network who answer to all my question with precision and in order. Troopy engines, what to choose?

Hello dear specialists, I'm still undecided about the engine for my next toy (78). It's a vehicle that will be dedicated solely to travelling, especially far away (around the globe). I'm currently on 1hz turbo, so diesel, but I'm hesitating about 1GR (petrol). I know the differences in...
