I have a 1992 dx 1hz, I bought it a few months ago, 3rd & 4th always grinds to go in, I always had to rev match it, & to put it in 4x4 mode was tough.

I'm looking into changing my fuel pump as my current one is leaking & not holding pressure, I've done a bit of research and know It's a time consuming job, Is there any tips or advice that could help me with this?
I'm hoping that I can get away with out using a puller tool.

Since last 6 months I have been fighting below issue:
When accelerating HZJ80 with 1HZ engine e.g. to 80 km/h in 3. shift engine is giving heavy white/gray smoke and starts stalling as if engine is not getting sufficient diesel.
However if you don’t press/stress engine there is no issue...
My non turbo 1hz 2004 manual troopy (125000kms) has flat spot most gears at 2000-2600rpm. I can power through no problems but if i just want to slowly build up speed or even cruise in that range its a pain. not sure if related but the car has a whistling sound almost like its a turbo...
