Hi Everyone, I am not a member of any other 1KZ forums so realise asking a Regius question may be out of line?
Anyway I have a 96 1KZ Prado as well but the wife wants something we can sleep in, thus the Regius.

Same engine apparently but 10hp less but seems to be really lacking power compared to the Prado. I am doing the basics today Oil, Air filter, fuel filter.

I notice the fuel filter has had the wires cut off the white plastic component on the bottom and also no rubber hose coming off the nipple on the bottom either. Also trying to get off the small filter inside the side of the fuel pump to check/clean.

Will the fuel filter function properly without these things?

Thanks!

The white plastic fitting at the bottom is a water detector.

There is a float around a stem that floats in water but not in diesel/petrol (different Specific Gravity) so if you get water in the fuel it collects, the float rises and triggers a warning light on the dash.

Maybe you don't have such a light ??

The water can be drained out of the filter body by loosening the tap at the bottom, the rubber hose would just direct it onto the ground instead of the engine.

Your engine will run fine without the wiring, but occasionally check for water by unscrewing the tap at the bottom and draining a small amount of contents into your hand it should be obvious if you have water or fuel there.

Bob.
