New to the forum! So recently when I turn my 1999 land cruiser steering wheel to full right or left, from a stop or very slow speed the car halts. It's almost as if the brakes are binding up on the front. If I give it some gas the tires shreek a bit and the car will move but it's almost like the front wheels lock up. The engine runs fine and doesn't die during this. Anyone have any thoughts?

It sounds as though your Centre Differential is locked (Transfer Lever in the "HL" position).

By turning sharply you are making the front axle take a much shorter route than the rear axle and the transmission is "winding-up".

Pulling the Transfer Lever back into the "H" position should release it.

If its not that we'll all have to have another think :eusa-whistle:.

Bob.
