 Great, I'll be pestering them on Tuesday

I'm with them already and had to prove membership of a club. Not just a good deal, but a fantastic deal to say I had no no-claims and truck that had caught fire! Paying less than I did before the claim - all declared. Really sensible to deal with.

Chris, what did you have to provide as proof of membership?

We usually write a letter for you Chas. let me know if you need one and I'll set it up - will need some details, so let's only do it if you need it. Better to establish contact via the forum, as that'll prove it too.

Cheers

We look forward to assisting you when it comes to insurance for your vehicle, please feel free to contact me regarding any insurance related queries, quotes, advice.

If you take a policy a PM on here will be sufficient for club membership proof.

That is great thanks.

You can only PM people if you have more than 20 or 30 posts which indicates you're not a passer by.

I gave 2Gether a bell today, as the 80's policy is up for renewal shortly and I had my fingers crossed that they could save me some money. Unfortunatley it wasn't to be as I don't meet the criteria of their schemes.

I needed 10,000 annual mileage, and occasional commuting. The schemes can do one or the other, but not both at the same time. I was also told that they couldn't do agreed value, as modified 4x4's aren't classics, and only classiscs can have agreed values. So not able to get an agreed value for the 80 and it's toys.

So it looks like it could be an expensive renewal, £637  Oh, the joy of insurance

got mine today, not the easiest to get hold of (then again neither am I and they did try several times) but they have done my Cruiser with all mods declared (LPG, Lift, Muds, Snorkel, Sliders, winch, underbody protection etc...) for laning and froading for £370 which is pretty much what others were quoting me without declaring the mods or the laning

Pretty sure mine is 9000 miles and occasional commuting for Steph i.e. in case her car is broken and she needs to use mine.

EDIT: Also, because I said I wasn't going laning or to P&P's etc they nearly turned me down because I would be using it like a normal car :( then I mentioned club events like Lincomb and it was ok ... so normal use = bad, offroading etc = good

I was advised that the max annual mileage available to me, that included commuting, was 5000, and I'll be doing most of that in one month later in the year. I don't use it everyday for commuting, but I do use quite often (one week in four) plus when the weather requires a 4x4.

I love the consistency that you get when speaking to insurance companies.

That was my experience too. Tried to put the 120 through, them, purely normal car usage, no off road and with some business use, and they were more than my current renewal quote of £525. Using Confused.com, I have a competative quote of £375 with Admiral, so thats where I'm going.

Although Gary at 2gether did say to come back for a quote on the 90

Maybe there is something about your proposal that makes the difference but I'm checking mine in case I made a mistake but both the proposal and certificate say the usual social domestic and pleasure including commuting and the schedule has the 9k mileage limit ... hope I'm not jinxing my next renewal! Be interesting to hear from 2Gether what sort of things can cause this difference so we can understand better how it works :)

65% of this years mileage will be on trips, so I'm alright on that front. Plus I have a Volvo V50 as the main commuter, but I do let other members of the family drive the Volvo. So when thats out I use the 80, or one of the others in the collection.

I didn't even get far enough for the full proposal, just the basics. Address, Reg number, Modified (answered yes, no specifics), mileage, type of use, value.

Sorry you don't fit the scheme criteria.

I honestly think that its luck of the draw as to the person who picks up your enquiry, and how much they want your buisness. (This is my opinion of most insurance companies).

What aren't you telling us Scott

I have often felt like that, especially if phoning up to notify additional modifications, on previous policies with a different broker, one person would say you'll have to put that in writing, then next day phone again and get ok thanks for letting us know

I wish I knew! I have a clean license, clean history, full NCB on four different policies. As far as I'm aware my main downsides are living in the south east and being honest about the vehicle, its mods and its intended use.

Scott, please PM your details and I will look into this further for you.

If anyone ever has any trouble getting through to us please please please contact me via the forum or email me directly [email protected] and I will have somebody call you back.
