Good day

Is a 75 amp battery good to use as the starter battery? I am Ethiopia. I drive a landcruiser colorado 3 litre turbo diesel. The KZTE engine. Its a 2000 model.

I look forward hearing from you.

The only battery I can get here is a Trane. Do you know if its any good?

Karen,
This is a bit difficult as the vehicles in the Uk are a bit
different. I would say that the battery would be OK as Toyotas do
start very well. I have never heard of Trane but if you have no choice
why bother to ask.

sounds like a "normal" petrol car battery - it will start the 1kz-te engine
(i used one for a while to start my 1kz-t) however it does get f*cked
quickly. it will not last as long as a heavier duty 110ah battery. all the
safari operators in ethiopia use big diesel lumps with twin batteries (24v
starting systems) so there should be heavier duty batteries around if you
search.

hello karel,
the ah rating is not an indication of how good a battery is at
starting the engine. what matters is the cold cranking amps (cca)
rating. if the trane battery has roughly the same rating as the old
battery, it should work. otherwise, expect premature failure.
