80 viewed and bought on friday :)

7.5cm OME's already on Clive, the original front springs weren't working at all
snorkels on
must get some tyres today,the spare's the original,stamped 1990 ;)
the others are 2001
it looks like it might need 35'' tyres
what's your thoughts on 35's?
cheers

35s are on the large size but not unworkable.

You've said 7.5 cm OME, is that the dimension of the lift compared with stock, or the actual lift achieved by the replacement springs?

I have 11 cm "lift" but the effect was more as my original springs were tired to say the least.

The pinch points for larger dia are the front of the rear wheels to the back of the sill and at the front, the clearance at the back if the front wheel to the front of the sill, or more likely the mudflap mountings.

Of course take care with lowering the bump stops, to save fouling at the top of the tyre with the arches, but that also depends on wheel offset and other characteristics causing them to rub on flexing.

I'm running 33" on -30 offset, but my bump stops are standard on the front and missing altogether on the back :shifty:

That means on hard impacts off-road, I get occasional rubbing, but when flexing at slow speeds this is minimal.

Note to self, get some bl00dy rear bump stops fitted!!

Just to add a bit, many have run with 37" but for that I believe some mods are necessary.

What caster correction do you have? Possibly just OME caster correction bushes which are not ideal on lifts over 2"

I'd recommend you fitting the drop boxes to remount the front suspension lower at the chassis. These have a tendency to pull the axle forward a touch, which is a much better position to accommodate larger diameters. The caster angle is much improved using the chassis boxes, the main reason for fitting them.

went for Mickey Thompson MTZ Baja's, 33 x 16
i''ll get some pics today
the 7.5cm lift is suspension only,it looks like i'll not need any body lift on these 33's
everything clears,i need to check articulation this week
gona take the front and rear anti-rollbars off as well

i'll have to read up on castor correction ;)

cheers

ps the steering feels a bit light and quick, maybe i'm just not used to it?

Light steering is a classic symptom of too little cator angle. I have the same problem, one of the reasons for going with the chassis drop boxes.

If you're using the truck on the road, you'll very likely run into technical inspection problems removing the anti-roll bars.

When is your next inspection? 1 year or 2 year intervals? It's every 2 years here, and mine's in May IIRC.
