A late summer bbq meeting ?

Ok, updated the spreadsheet, so that's a spot secured then :) now onto installing Chile seat in the truck lol

Where is the spread sheet. Can anyone adde to it please.
Stu

We have a 33m by 12m pitch. How i worked out capcity was that if we parked up facing outward, right upto the edge then with 5mx4m per truck we can get 16 in there. 8 in each direction along the 33m side. Also facing outward should allow everyone liberty to arrive and leave whenever.

This should give us with some spaces to use as communal space and also the odd fellow ( like me! ) who does not have a roof tent can pitch a oztent or something similar directly behind or alongside the truck.

5m by 4m isnt a huge amount of space per truck.. but i am guessing a bit of snuggles amongst friends is ok :)

Also folks bringing families might want to park in the middle ( for most quiet, private area ?) and we can setup shelter and common space on the south side.

I am guessing everyone is self catering, however we will try and get a common bbq going on the friday evening. And if enough folks pitch in, then repeat on saturday evening.

I say all this in full recognition of the fact that plans of this nature for an arbitrary arrival order almost never work out but hey..

All sounds good.

Hope I can get the foxwing in the pitch size  Worry about that when the time comes. Looking forward to it.

I'll chuck stuff in that can either go on the BBQ or just be eaten in secret then. Nice weather would be a bonus.

BBQ? Braai boet, braai! Getting really stoked here, weather better hold up :)

I will probably get to Stratford on the Thursday evening after my run around southern Scotland with Galloway 4x4.

so, subject to the gate monkeys at Stratford letting me in on the Thursday, and me not wanting to take up too much space on the pitch, how best do you think it for me to pitch up my camp with my truck & oztent? it looks like space may be a bit tight, if 16 trucks turn up, but I wonder if we can stretch our pitch a bit

Andy

Have to confess I'm not really going for the show. it's not that good. I'm going for the craic really. Cruiser convention and a bit of meat on the coals. Should be great. We'll just have to see how we all fit on. I wouldn't mind something like a bottom right hand corner so I can put the awning out if it's raining. But frankly I'll take what's there and sit under someone else's awning if it comes to that.

What time are people going to arrive on the Friday ?

Gin O'clock.

Which is probably about 15.30 - 16.00

I will try and disappear early afternoon all being well

My understanding is that while there is camping 'on site' for wed and thu night the event site only opens on friday am. So you might need to relocate :(

If you park parallel to the short edge of the pitch, and put up the oztent right behind your truck things should be OK. You will have 5mx3m space there. Would it help if i drew the plan up ....

i don't image anyone is really going to come with a measuring tape. But then again, this is the land cruiser club so one never knows....

Queues? You've not been before then ....

Nope never been before :) but just thinking there would be atleast a 100 odd vehicles trying to get in on Friday

You shouldn't have to worry about queues. It's a racecourse and they're used to handling thousands per hour. I don't think I have ever had a car in front or behind me when I've been. Hopefully the show WILL grow in popularity, but the last two years have not exactly been over attended let's say.

It's just a pain in the arse getting there from this side of Stratford really. It's through the middle of the town.

Well i have friday afternnon Dartford crossing and the M25 to tackle first!
