Thank you for help so far and info 
I've found out some more info on the pump that was fitted. Apparently it was a new 24v body and was built up without the non essential bits, egr, "throttle hold between gear changes"? etc...I do not know if its been tweaked at all and will do some reading on the methods and have a play in the near future.
Since the work to replace pump and remove immobiliser the glow plug light is stuck on the dash and the timing belt light will,not reset, not sure if this is related!
On a slightly less technical note, the boot carpet took some work....an hour with a stiff brush and lots of swarfega.
