[ADMIN] Mail Traffic from the list

Hi,
If any of you are concerned about the high level of traffic on the list
clogging up your mailbox there are a couple of things you can do to
resolve the problem.
Firstly in your mail program you should be able to setup a Mail Rule or
Filter to move the messages from the mailing list (search on [ELCO] in
the subject) from your InBox into their own folder. If there is enough
interest I will put a tutorial on the site about this.
Secondly, you can setup a GMail account that has a storage limit of
around 2Gb and use that for the list - with that sort of capacity you
can keep al the messages and use it as a searchable archive. You can
find out about GMail at:
http://mail.google.com/mail/help/intl/en/about.html
The other advantage with GMail is you can pick up the messages from any
computer equipped with a web browser, so they are ideal for when you
are travelling.
You need to be invited to use GMail, but I can do that for you - just
drop me a line off list and I will send you an invite.

I very much support Julian on the Gmail front. I've been using it for
two years and find it very useful. All stuff in one place, easy to
search and archive, with subjects threaded for quick reference.
You can open as many accounts as you want according to subjects:
business, private, hobby, etc... The only issue is that you can't have
two different accounts open on one machine at the same time.

You can if you really want to. I am not sure if you can do this in
Internet Explorer, but in Firefox you can create different profiles.
Just create a new profile and make sure it stores it cookies in
another place. Open up your normal firefox with gmail open, en then
start firefox again with the other profile. You can now have two
gmails open simultaneous (in different windows though).
You could do the same thing by opening gmail in Firefox, and then
launching IE to do the same. A bit messy, but it works.

Hi Frederik,
In firefox I have two GMail accounts setup in different tabs and then
use the Session Saver extensions to keep them open, so when ever I open
Firefox (although open most of the time) I have the two gmail accounts
and a couple of other standard sites that I monitor (like the HUBB)
opeing automatically.
