Airbag light is on.

Well guys I'm stumped.
I have just removed my driver's seat and checked for loose wires.
Everything seems ok even removed the factory insulation tape that was fitted near the seat plug all all ok.
Checked both plugs male and female and both ok no rips or scraps.
I have left one airbag clip off to give extra give when I sit down.
Put everything back and no airbag light till I sit down and straight back on.
Any ideas what it could be.
Not familiar with airbag layout.
I no how to bypass it by joining a 2hms resistor and joining and looping bot wires together.
I want my airbag to work as it's there to save lives.
Any ideas.

Maybe the airbag is only enabled if someone is sitting in the seat, and the fault only occurs once the airbag is enabled?

You have to check each wire from plug to sensor with a multimeter, there was no visible damage on any of the plugs or devices on my seat, however two of the wires were not conducting, broken somewhere in the loom.

With a multi metre what settings do I put it on and what reading should I get back.

Tore my 90 apart looking for the cause and eventually decided correctly it was the steering wheel clockspring .

Deffo the driver's seat as only comes on when you sit down.
If I don't get it but start the car it stays off.

I have watched that clip on YouTube and how that was done.
My light only comes on with me in the driver's seat otherwise it stays off.

With my multimeter on the ohm lowest setting is just a case of disconnecting the harness from the seat.
Do I test by multimeter probe on one wire and probe on other wire to test for complete circuit.
Watched a few clips and people test by one end of a wire to the other end.
How is this possible if I can't get to the other end with out taking seat apart.

Yep that's how you test for continuity on the wire. Check there is no/low resistance at both ends. Personally I'd disconnect the battery and wait 10 mins before doing anything with airbag wires.

You need a wiring diagram to see where the other end of the wires go (probably into an SRS ECU).

That repair manual will give you the diagnostic sequence - eg for this code, check wires from here to here etc

As has been said a few times, If you can get someone to plug a diagnostic in and get up a code it will narrow things down a bit, Cant remember if there are wirers going to the seatbelt tensioners, They are also linked to the Airbag (Karl2000) could shed light on that..... Apart from that the only sensors linked to Airbag from Drivers seat are the Seat position sensor / Possibly seatbelt Tensioners...... PS are you touching the steering wheel when you get in, The slightest movement on the wheel could Trigger the airbag light if its clock spring related......... Clutching at Straws i know, But could be relevant

Hello guys .
Finally got round to getting a code for my airbag light.
I was correct in the driver's seat but wrong on my assumption.
The code was B1153 seat position airbag sensor driver's seat.
My next quest is were on the seat is it located.
Were I can buy one from and if it's the correct part.
Hope this code helps other people with similar code
My problem persists but homming in at least.
Big thanks to karl200 for his download information and ever one else for there help.
Still not out the woods yet but can see the light.

After studying the information from karl200 is that sensor the yellow plug that fits the loom harness.
Does the plug from the harness that is attached to the driver's seat unplug from the airbag or is it all one.
Not sure if I'm on the correct path but in the right area at least.
If it is the yellow plug from the airbag how is it fixed.

The seat position sensor sits underneath the seat, and is located close to the seat rails, it sends back information on the seat position on its forward and backward movement. I think Higgy mentions his sensor had faulty wiring, which is the more likely than a broken sensor, and is what was wrong with mine. It is when the seat is adjusted back and forth it eventually breaks the wire.
If lucky you may be able to see the break if it is broken at the sensor. Otherwise it is back to the multi meter and check the wiring from plug to sensor. If it is broken flush against the sensor its a bit of a challenge to solder a new connection.

If you read post No2.. and post No 20.. The clue is there, Dont always trust its ok just because the wires look ok. check the pins in the socket under the seat, Always remember Toyota's electrics after 1997 were No better than the 1970's Italian cars..... ..... No seriously check the socket pins
