Hello all
I had an alternator belt go in dramatic fashion on Saturday and luckily hsad a
spare in the car.
Are Milners belts ok or is it a case of buying Mr Ts belts. I've always used
Milners in the past but wondered if things had changed in the last year...
Thanks

Jeremy,
Milners don't do belts, Gates do, e.g. AVX10 x 1000La (Gates catalogue
No 6220MC)
Any belt will do, as long as it's 10mm wide and 1000 mm long.

The only thing I would add is to avoid toothed belts - they are
supposed to stop slippage, which they do, however they are pretty
noisy.

It was the outside, 2nd belt that went and got itself well and truly knotted
around the aircon belt. Both alternator belts were toothed, and the spares I
put on are toothed... less worried about noise but these belts have not worn
well and I check the tension regularly. Anyway, I'll get a replacemt set and
another for spares. Getting to the bottom of my alternator is a bit awkward
because of a bash plate... something to do on a fine day once i've finished
this current project.
